Un gran viaje por Marruecos para ver aves…
Con un gran grupo de gente, con dos buenos amigos y dos guías de alto nivel como Mohammed Hilmi y Javi Elorriaga. Muy recomendable!

Recién llegado de un viaje de pajareo por el sur de marruecos con birding strait, no puede haber salido mejor, 119 especies de aves, entre las cuales excelencias como la curruca sahariana o Búho faraón, acatamientos y fotografías de maxima calidad con la inmejorable guía de Javi Elorriaga, Además cultura y gastronomía Marroqui en un tour inolvidable

Hacía tiempo que quería ver las aves únicas de las Islas Canarias y estoy tan contento que elegí Birding the Strait para hacerlo. Conseguimos vistas espectaculares de todas las endémicas de Tenerife y Fuerteventura. Las palomas Bolle y Laurel, el pinzón azul de Tenerife y la tarabilla de Fuerteventura se mostraron a la perfección, pero lo más destacado fueron nuestros múltiples encuentros con la exhibición de hubaras macho: un regalo muy inesperado. Gracias a Javi y al equipo por su profesionalidad y dedicación. Muy recomendable.

Ha sido un auténtico placer salir a pajarear con vosotros. No sólo por el extenso número de especies observadas, sino por la singularidad de algunas de ellas como la cerceta pardilla, la focha moruna o el vencejo moro. Birding The Strait es en mi opinión absolutamente recomendable. Muchas gracias por un día extraordinario.

Mi esposa y yo somos observadores de aves novatos. Tuvimos un medio día fantástico y ventoso de observación de aves con Javi, que conoce íntimamente las aves y la zona. Las rapaces esperaban en el lado español del Estrecho mejores condiciones para cruzar la recta. Vimos cigüeñas negras, cigüeñas blancas, águilas culebreras, águilas calzadas, águila perdicera, gavilanes, milanos y más. Era un buen momento.

Tuvimos 2 excursiones de un día increíbles con BTS a finales de octubre. Uno centrado en las aves de Tarifa y La Janda, y el segundo que nos lleva a la zona oriental de Doñana, y algunos otros lugares cercanos. Se observaron más de 35 'Lifer's, la mayoría con vistas increíbles. La experiencia y el conocimiento de Javi son increíbles, y siempre estuvo feliz de responder nuestras preguntas tanto en los viajes como las que le hicimos antes y después. Además, fue honesto acerca de qué esperar en términos de posibles avistamientos dada la época del año.
Recomiendo totalmente BTS.

¡Guau! Qué fantástica semana de observación de aves tuvimos con Birding the Strait. Este fue nuestro primer tour de observación de aves. Javi, nuestro guía, estaba muy bien informado y sabía exactamente dónde ir para encontrar aves. También organizaron excelentes habitaciones de hotel y comidas. Vimos muchas especies, lo pasamos muy bien y el viaje tuvo un precio razonable. También nos gustó que el recorrido fuera muy pequeño con un total de siete personas y que el viaje fuera completamente bilingüe: inglés y español. Estamos planeando hacer otro tour de observación de aves con ellos. 100% recomendado.

Qué día tan maravilloso pasé observando aves con Birding The Strait. Mi guía, Pablo, hablaba inglés con fluidez, tenía un gran conocimiento de las aves, era un gran maestro y estaba muy interesado en conversar sobre la conservación de las aves y la historia natural local. Había estado observando aves por mi cuenta durante más de una semana en varias áreas del sureste de España, pasándolo muy bien buscando aves, pero teniendo dificultades con mis habilidades limitadas en la identificación de aves en Sanish. Las nueve horas (sí, el acuerdo para el recorrido eran ocho) resultaron ser un tesoro de descubrimiento de aves, incluido un movimiento fenomenal de aves rapaces y bonitas vistas de una variedad de aves costeras y paseriformes. Lo que añadió la hora extra, su perseverancia al final del día para encontrarme un chotacabras que había sido encontrado anteriormente por otro guía de B T S. El dinero gastado para pasar un día con Pablo definitivamente fue dinero bien gastado.

Perfect activity to do in Tarifa, even for a novice it's fascinating to see the birds:) and our guide Yeray had a real passion for finding them, that's for sure! Money-wise it's very good quality for what you pay considering that you're not with a group, so you have all the time to ask all the questions, they lend you the binoculars, they pick you where you live and drive you around! We were super happy to have booked a morning with them!

Went birding with Yeray (September 15th) and it was amazing! We witnessed impressive groups of raptors migrating, saw our wishbird bee-eater and had an overall lovely time. Yeray has an impressive knowledge of birds and the surroundings of Tarifa. We visited different habitats, and got great suggestions for the rest of our stay near Tarifa. Thanks again for a great time!

Nuestra experiencia con Birding The Strait ha sido increíble. Son unos grandes profesionales que conocen la zona palmo a palmo. Adaptan el tour a tus objetivos para que disfrutes pajareando y puedas tachar las especies que buscas en tu lista. Trabajan con la plataforma eBird de forma que no tienes ni que preocuparte de ir haciendo la lista de todas las cosas que ves, ellos la hacen por ti y luego la comparten contigo, tu solo a disfrutar de las aves. El trato es muy cercano con una paciencia y una amabilidad exquisitas. Su página web está muy bien diseñada y te permite rápidamente hacerte una idea de lo que ofrecen y como contactar con ellos. Sin duda repetiremos.

In short - a fantastic company and one i would use repeatedly.

We reached out to Birding the Strait back in 2019 for a 2020 trip. They way the team dealt with our booking and Covid lockdowns was very professional. This allowed us to postpone the trip not once but twice.

We booked three trips over a two day period. We finally made it Sept 22. Our guide allocated was Pablo. He went out of his way to make our trips as memorable as possible and find us some really good birds.

If birding the Strait and surrounding areas, look no further, these are the team for you.

La salida a pelágicas desde el puerto de Tarifa ha sido una experiencia genial. Estuvimos alrededor de 4 horas durante las que vimos pardelas baleares y cenicientas, gaviotas, fumareles, págalos. Tambien tuvimos la oportunidad de disfrutar de algunos grupos de cetaceos. La salida se realiza en un barco de pesca con capacidad para 10 personas muy cómodo y en el que desde cualquier sitio hay buena visibilidad. Javi demostró ser un gran conocedor del Estrecho y nos hizo disfrutar muchisimo. Si vuelvo repetiré seguro y lo recomiendo a todo aquel que pueda unirse

Hicimos una salida de 4 horas en barco para observación de aves pelágicas y todo fue sobre ruedas. Éramos un grupo de en torno a 10 personas y pudimos disfrutar de una experiencia muy bien organizada en un enclave único para la observación de aves. Todo con un trato muy amable y cercano. Repetiré.

La salida pelágica desde Chipiona el 9 de octubre fue estupenda, pudimos observar 10 especies, que aprendí a identificar escuchando los comentarios precisos de nuestro guia organizador Javi Elorriaga, salida totalmente recomendable.

Had an excellent day of birding with Javi. Good company and he has extremely good knowledge of the (local) birds. He has the latest information on species like White-rumped Swift and Rüppell's Vulture, two species that were high on my wish list. Saw both species well. Very much recommended.

Una experiencia totalmente recomendable de la mano de un profesional. Pudimos ver un buen número de aves y muchas de ellas detenidamente. Javi se adaptó a nuestras necesidades y pudimos disfrutar de un gran día de pajareo.

I spent an afternoon with Javi on my own looking for birds to photograph around the Tarifa area. It was a day when most of the birds decided to go into hiding nevertheless I and enjoyed it very much. Javi is very knowledgeable and was eager to ensure I had something to shoot. I finished my afternoon with a much better understanding of migration behaviour and armed with some of the best locations. In the weeks following I was able to revisit a couple of these locations and photograph raptors and migrating storks, black kites etc.

I am a resident of Andalucia and I don't usually use bird tours. However I decided to go on the Birding the Straits pelagic out of Chipiona on 14th August 2021. My target bird was Wilson's Petrel as well as closer views of the local shearwater species, Cory's and Balearic. I was also hoping to get good enough views to split Cory's and Scopoli's.
The boat hired by Javi Elorriega was ideal with plenty of deck space and shade if required. It was also quite stable as small boats go.
We sailed on time and after a couple of kilometres we were already getting close views of both shearwater species along with more common species such as gannet.
Javi is very sharp eyed and was soon pointing species to the group. Involving everybody in the sightings. The skipper, Pepe (?) Was also shouting sightings.
We went about 20 km west of Chipiona to the shelf and we soon started getting sightings of Wilson's. Distant at first but we soon had pretty close views. Pepe manoeuvred the boat well to get as close as possible.
I am prone to sickness on small boats but I found this boat handled well in quite deep swells. The final tally was 8-10 Wilson's plus Arctic Skua, Bonxie, Black Tern and loads of shearwaters of both species. The conditions didn't allow me to split out Scopoli's, maybe next time.
Overall I was satisfied with my day at sea and would not hesitate to recommend Birding the Straits if you are visiting Andalucia on a birding or family holiday. I fully intend go on their trips out of Tarifa in the future.

La salida fue fantástica, buen tiempo y mar en calma, además de paiños y otras aves marinas. El guía, Javi, gran experto en aves y migración, aportando su conocimiento y sabiduría en todo momento. Mi hijo estaba encantado y nosotros también. Así que pensamos repetir.

Desde el año 2013, cada vez que visito el estrecho de Gibraltar esta gente son mi referencia en las actividades de observación de naturaleza. He compartido con Javi y con Yeray muchas rutas y salidas y su conocimiento de las especies así como de dónde encontrarlas hace que se multiplique el disfrute. Si visitáis el estrecho (o Golfo de Cádiz/Doñana) y queréis sacarle todo el partido a su naturaleza, no lo dudéis, contactad con ellos!

An amazing day filled with all kinds of birds. Spend all day with guide Javi, whom has a lot of knowledge about all kinds of animals and nature. It was a very informative, great for photography as well.

Hemos estado dos días, a primeros de marzo de 2020, viendo aves en el Estrecho con Birding The Strait guiados por Rafa Benjumea. Es un excelente guía, buen conocedor de las aves y de los lugares para verlas. Apasionado de su trabajo fue un placer escucharle contar sus experiencias con las aves en España y otros países. Had a fantastic day out with Blanca who is a really knowledgeable birder.we managed to spot 42 different species of birds including bee eater Sardinian warbler black eared wheatear and many raptors. It was a day to remember and an experience we will never forget. Blanca was able to identify many birds just from their song alone. She is a dedicated and passionate guide. If you want to see birds I would strongly recommend you contact Birding The Strait.

I had an absolutely fantastic day out birding in the Tarifa area with Yeray from “Birding the Strait”. Yeray is extremely knowledgeable, speaks perfect English, worked hard taking me to the best places to find the birds I was looking for given the conditions, and was very pleasant company for the day. Highly recommended!

My wife and I spent two days birding with the good folks at Birding the Strait. Both Javi and Blanca were knowledgeable keen observers and shared far more than their expertise in birding. The overall experience was exhilarating particularly watching raptors as the crossed the Strait fighting 30 km/per hour winds. Highly recommended.

Javi has a tremendous amount of knowledge, not only about birds and local nature in general, but also about the history and culture of the area.

A great day with Yeray watching the migration from the observatories, plus visits to La Janda and the marshes of Barbate. Oh, and a few lifers for our group! A memorable day.

Yeray was our guide for 3 days in southern Spain and we couldn't have asked for a more knowledgeable, harder-working individual to showcase the avian life in this area! We saw well over 100 species, almost all new to my wife and me, and got a great survey of all birding opportunities available in Cadiz, from the famed raptor migration to the array of shorebirds and waterfowl. Thanks to Birding the Strait for a terrific experience!

We spent 5 days in the field with Yeray and he is an excellent guide. As well as having a fantastic knowledge of the local birds, he has a great understanding of the impact which the weather has on where to find them. He speaks excellent English, is very friendly and he certainly went the extra mile, taking us to great birding spots that we would never have found ourselves.

We did a half-day trip with Yeray at the end of August and it was great! In four hours not only did we manage to see around 60 different types of birds, but also we were taken to several locations, including the Observatorio de Cazalla, a perfect spot to see birds migrating to and from Africa. Yeray was most accommodating and knowledgeable and definitely we will hire his services again.

What a great guide! I had an amazing day of birding with Yeray. I only had a day in the region and he knew exactly where to go for my target species and really maximized our time. We saw numerous targets including the Spanish Eagle and the Red-knobbed Coot. He's also very kind, personable and speaks perfect English so communication in the field is not a problem at all. I will definitely be contacting Yeray when I visit the region again!
