Meat Lovers Delight…I’ve been eating here since moving to Spain permanently in August. The choices of steak alone are worth the visit, always cooked to perfection-just the way you order. The homemade pasta is delightful, 4 choices of chicken dishes, lamb and pork along with delicious seafood choices. Try the Pil-Pil prawns as a starter and you won’t be disappointed, the tender prawns and the spicy broth are very different from every other restaurant I’ve tried them at!
The interior of the restaurant is very old world Spanish, very warm and inviting, the outdoor patio is a must visit during the summer months. The staff…well what can I say except they are the BEST! Very attentive to your needs, do not rush you as they believe your dining experience should be just that!
I urge anyone reading this review to go on and treat yourself to the ESTRIBO Experience…You’ll be glad you did!
Gracias y enhorabuena El Estribo. Volveremos sin duda.
The bread at least tasted like bread but the minuscule frozen butter supplied with it was inadequate.
My friends asked for entrecot steak but were HEAVILY INFLUENCED into having rib eye. The “chef” supplied bloody steak when the order was for medium (pink but not bloody).
Obviously pushing rib eye had an ulterior motive as the meat was poor by comparison.
I requested salmon which came with mixed vegetables and butter potatoes.
The “chef” fried the salmon which just tasted of oil. One end was soggy. The vegetables cut up for a child was a mix of indeterminate bits that had been again cooked in oil so tasted like oil.
The butter potatoes were over cooked and the butter had already joined the oil slick on the plate.
I left the food, was never asked why so I told the scruffy waiter who just shrugged.
When the FULL bill arrived it included a fee for tomato ketchup supplied in a Heinz’s bottle, and English mustard. This was for the steak and chips.
I cannot recommend this restaurant and would not return as the “chef” needs more training and the customer service is non existent when quality is poor.
Enhorabuena a El Estribo!
The meet was strongly overcoocked: we have ordered (and highlighted during the order twice) medium rare and. In such restaurant you would expect that this will be solved immediately. But unfortunately in El Estribo they didn't. Secondly, they have charged 16€ for plain pasta (without any sauce or ingredients). Slightly exaggerated. Tourist trap
An excellent experience, delicious food and good service. The portions are big so be prepared and try not to eat before going to the restaurant. Only a small, positive and constructive comment: it would be greatly appreciated to have a guidance from the person taking the order as to whether what we order looks excessive in light of the good size of the portions. Other than that all positive, excellent experience and I will go back FOR SURE. Well done and a great restaurant for La Duquesa
Great food and very good service. I found the place on an ad on the road and decided to try it out.it was not disappointing AT ALL. The place has an amazing vibe, a bit upscale but worth the price. They offer amazing homemade bread. Menu is vast and authentic. Flavor was outstanding and waiters were always checking up. Had a great experience would recommend!
Junto a gasolinera. Frente a Restaurante San Rafael.
Nothing to write home about. 2 steaks 50 Euro. You pay for bread, a vegetable, potatoes. I lived in Argentina, this meat wasn't Argentine. I won't be returning.
Muchas gracias!
The food was delicious, my steak was cooked to perfection.and generous portions. Theres a great selection on the menu. Great value for money. The staff were very friendly, helpful and efficient. Will definitely be back.
We came across this restaurant by chance late in the evening coming back from Duquesa to our apartment in Alboran Hills. We didn't think we would get in at 10: 30 in the evening and without booking as it looked quite busy when we arrived. There were 3 of us and one of the guys is a meat buyer for a large supermarket and travels the world buying meat. He thought he recognised the style of Argentinian cooking this restaurant did and said if they cooked in the arched clay ovens over charcoal this would be really good. He wasn't wrong this was probably the best steak i have ever had, it was succulent, tender, full of flavour and cooked to perfection. I can't wait to go again.
We very rarely review a restaurant but we ate at El Estribo tonight and I can absolutely say that the welcome, the food, the atmosphere and the service were outstanding. We eat out quite often but neither my husband or I can remember having such a lovely meal. Thank you El Estribo it was a outstanding experience.
The best restaurant in the town, from the welcome to "hasta manana" the service from the friendly staff, the food, especially the food and the wine and the whole experience is not to be missed. A real find in such a small place. One of our regular haunts!
