I really had no idea what to expect from this week of cooking having never been on an activity holiday before. I knew almost immediately on arrival that it was going to be lovely. Ian made us all feel so welcome and has a natural warmth and charm that dispelled any worries.
The location is simply stunning. From the hostel there are panoramic views of the stunning hills and mountains. The Sierra Nevada shines snow capped in the distance.
I most enjoyed getting up each morning to a day full of activities with a much needed siesta.
Our chef took us through numerous typical Andalusian dishes, some old and some very modern. We learned how to make the perfect tortilla, exquisite chilled soups. We prepared anchovies and sardines, pork and tuna and lots more besides.
Ian and Andrew took us all out for a wonderful tapas and wine tasting tour in Granada along with trips to the markets. A very lovely local lady, Mari-Petra came in and showed us how to make pastries which was a delight.

I could wax lyrical much longer but suffice to say it surpassed my expectations in many ways. Many memorable evenings were had in the dappled courtyard eating, drinking and laughing. Such a lovely way to learn and make new friends. Ian and Andrew are perfect hosts and extremely knowledgeable about the area. I wouldn’t hesitate to return.
