The facilities, planning, and actual instruction are all very professional, and I especially like their philosophy of nature. They offer a very valuable opportunity to learn extreme sports in a safe way, and the quality is definitely above the price.

A couple of years ago I had a rather bad experience at Fuerteventura, where I was left in the open water on my second day all by myself without any communication to the boat and the instructors, so I lost trust and it took me some time to continue with my plan to learn kite surfing. Also did I gain a lot of weight during that time so I wasn't sure whether I could learn kitesurfing anymore. When I talked to Kathi before my travels, she took away my fear and promised me that everything will work out fine.

And what should I say? I had the best time. Kathi made me always feel safe and prepared for the day, so I always felt comfortable with what I was doing before taking the next step. She was always patient and did her best teaching me. Also my weight wasn’t a problem, or lets rather say, Kathi made me feel so comfy and found the best teaching technique so I felt good on the beach and in the water. In times when I felt somehow slacking and stagnating she made sure to motivate me and pushed me through. Thank you Kathi!
In the beginning she companied me, with a leash in the water. So I felt safe and she could give me the right instructions. While doing so, we had lots of fun. And when I had a huge zip of water it was mostly because I laughed too much.

Also the kite sessions are nicely organized. There is no time pressure, and when there is no wind yet, you just wait for it together at the “Waves Beach Bar”. The equipment is of great quality and you can see how well they treat it and also teach you how to treat you own equipment good too. Additionally its really nice, that you get a dry and clean wetsuit every day, which I know isn’t normal for every school.
Also the other instructors of Ocean Kite School are amazing! With Jelloul, Tilly, Joeri and Victor and of course Mimi (the dog of Tilly) you feel like going kiting with friends and it’s always fun to spend time with them, see their passion and watch them teaching other kite students. In my opinion that’s especially important as besides all the learning you want to have a good time in your holidays, and it is definitely more fun to spend that time with such great people.

Besides the Kite School Kathi and Jelloul own the kite house “CASA DE OCÉANO”. There they also have their kite shop, with nice equipment and clothes, which I can definitely recommend. Kathi designs their own “Ocean Apparel” which is great and I love my Ocean Cap.

The Kite house was a former hostel, which Kathi and Jelloul renovated beautifully. It is now a guest house with private rooms, but you can also enjoy the comfort of a nice shared kitchen, living room, and nice (rooftop) -terraces. It is very lovely. Also it is very clean and the receptionist Timi is the best.
Especially when you are traveling by yourself, staying at the kite house is a nice way to meet other people who share the same passion.

I could write a lot more nice things, but I guess this review is already long enough. So lets sum it up: I went to Ocean Kite school the first time in the end of August 21, wanted to stay two weeks and extended my stay for another week. Now its November and I am planning to go for another two weeks on Saturday. I am very thankful for the good time I had and now I am looking forward to go kite surfing with Ocean Kite School soon again.

Once you went kiting with Ocean Kite School you will definitely come back!

Super recomendable for new starters in Kite. I took private lessons with Joeri over 4 days and were already able to drive with the board over the water. Good instructions and very professional planning. Will come back very soon to improve my level.

Ocean Kite School is an awesome school with excellent instructors. They really make sure that you learn a lot in a short period of time. The kitesurfing conditions can be different with the changing winds but with Ocean Kite School I always felt safe and prepared for the conditions of that day. What I also recommend is their Ocean Kite clothing. They have super comfortable sweaters and shirts to wear after having finished your kite session!

From the beginning on the extreme care and effort they put into the school is apparent. First thing every day you get a dry and clean (!) wetsuit instead of the wet and sandy ones I have come to expect at different Kite schools. Most importantly though all the teachers are extremely positive, patient and supportive teachers who create a very warm atmosphere which makes learning to kitesurf with them so much fun.
Also worth mentioning is that they count the lessons in an extremely fair way since they dont count the handing out of the equipment, the dressing up and the walk to the spot on the beach where the lessons take place as part of the lessons (which the kite school I visited in Tarifa before I took lessons with Ocean Kite did).
I am so glad to have taken lessons with Ocean Kite school and can highly recommend taking your kite lessons with them!

Kathi and Jelloul are great kite-surfers, fantastic teachers and just altogether fun people to be around!

I was taught by Kathi but also spent a lot of time around Jelloul. Kathi is a born teacher but from her technique it is evident that she has spent a lot of time and effort perfecting her craft.

She is thoughtful, when you don't understand something, she can adapt her manner of explain to better suit your frame of reference and personality.

She is patient and will always take the time to go make sure you are comfortable with what you are doing before taking the next step in your training.

She is challenging, if you're having an off day or if she sees you are slacking and somewhat stagnating at a certain level, she'll be sure to motivate you and challenge you to push through.

She is an interesting, caring and wonderful person who is fun to be around and very easygoing. This last thing is something you may forget or overlook when looking for a good teacher but it is crucial nonetheless. You are - after all - spending quite a bit of your well earned holiday-time with your instructor so it is crucial you get along well. What's more, if you do get along well, you'll want to come back to this same instructor and this person will already know you, your level, your strengths and your working points; which is apt to impove and accelerate your climbing of the - somewhat steep and daunting - learning curve of kitesurfing.

These values and this work-ethic is passed along by Kathi and Jelloul to all their other instructors, and it shows very clearly that they are careful in selecting who they work with.

I truly had the BEST time learning with Kathi, Jelloul and Tilly. A great team with years of experience and BAGS of patience and care. I’ll admit, i DIDN’T read the reviews before booking; my intuition was totally right and after reading them after booking; my expectations totally matched up with the results! Price is totally fair when you add up all the kiting equipment cost/maintenance as well as rescue boats, 2-way radios, etc.as well as all the knowledge and super student care. You start as students and leave as friends.

J'ai fait 2 autres écoles auparavant qui ont une méthode classique d'apprentissage. Avec Jelloul, c'est une autre méthode où l’on apprend des astuces (dissociation entre les lignes avant et les lignes arrières, incliner sa tête vers la gauche ou la droite et tout le poids du corps va suivre.) Jelloul est tout simplement le boss du Kite à Tarifa, cela fait 19 ans qu'il est à Tarifa et c'est un passionné du Kite et qui partage cette passion avec ses élèves
J’ai fait déjà 2 stages avec Jelloul, un stage de 5 jours avec mon fils cet été (mon fils a commencé à naviguer même en upwind dès la 4ème journée, et moi j’avaiscommencé à naviguer un peu)
Je suis retourné au mois de septembre 3 jours avec un copain, et là, je me sens tout à fait à l’aise et confiant à naviguer grâce à Jelloul

Very professional kiteschool with brand new equipment. The instructors are very involved with their students, also after the lessons they take their time to explain everything about kitesurfing. I had a great time with Katy, Jelloul and Herman! They also helped me with finding a kite for myself (which size, models would suit me best and tips about prices and quality). I would definitely recommend this school.

Ocean Kite no tiene nada que ver. Super profesionalidad en un ambiente muy divertido y agradable. Comunicación por radio bluetooth, explicaciones muy precisas y al grano, mucha seguridad, y muchas risas. Mi nivel mejoró claramente en muy poco tiempo. Rompí mi barra y se rompió una costura en una de mis cometas y Jelloul se encargó de gestionar las reparaciones de un día para otro, algo que no tenía por qué hacer. Mi hijo hizo un curso de iniciación también, y en dos días ya estaba para salir en waterstart. Gracias a ambos por vuestro excelente trato, mi mejor experiencia en Tarifa en muchos años.

Great experience, awesome people, very good and technical teaching. I have reached what I set as goals for myself for this course and even achieved some extra! We did three days kite school. It was perfectly organized. The equipment was like new.
We enjoyed time after kiting in waves beach bar a lot. Our guide Gino had after class always some good advices and interesting stories to tell.
All in all we are very happy with everything and We will definitely recommend Ocean Kite School to everyone.
