A kid-friendly, modernized Catholic church with a small park and playground next to it, in a modernized neighborhood close to El Corte Ingles, northeast of Jerez. Sunday masses for children at 11: 30. No mass in English.
Suitability (for a family with children) : Has a spacious, glass-walled room with speaker system, dedicated for families with children. Plenty of light and space in this room and the rest of the church.
The playground has 4 swings, 2 slides and an old see-saw, originally installed by unknown company in 1998. The ground in the play areas were a mix of dirt-soil-sand. The park was relatively litter-free, except for some big broken pieces of stone and cement, and need some regular maintenance. Shade from trees. Three benches.
Food/cost: n/a; there is a good home-cooked bar/restaurant a block away called Bar Mi Sueno.
Services/bathroom: one with baby-changing table and wheelchair access.
Shade: indoor.
Foreign-friendliness: don’t know
Downside/for Improvement: At some point, the church would likely open its next-door lot to parking.
Accessibility: about 7-plus-kilometer drive (17 minutes) from Plaza San Miguel. Street parking. Buses nearby to/from El Corte Ingles. Easily accessible by wheelchair and strollers.
Timeframe of visit (s) : late January.
Note: we (free electrons family) review places from a foreign-family perspective, generally. We have small children and our ability to communicate in the local language (Spanish) is limited, but getting better.
