Barrika Surf Camp

Había participado en 2 camps en la escuela hace años. Después de un accidente, volví a contactar porque tenía muy buen recuerdo, pero la realidad actual es que ya no es lo que era, las clases se hacen rápido, no se cubre el tiempo pactado y las clases se dan por personas con contrato de prácticas. Se busca monetizar al máximo, y la calidad de la experiencia da igual. La sensación de sentirme utilizado ha sido tan desagradable, que a pesar del aprecio que he sentido por esta escuela, no puedo evitar compartir esta reseña.

Nuestro hijo ha quedado muy contento con las dos semanas de clases de surf y con las actividades alternativas en los días en los que no había olas. Un excelente equipo de monitores, siempre atento a las necesidades y aptitudes de cada niño. Muchísimas gracias también a Nagore por la excelente labor de gestión y por mantenernos puntualmente informados acerca de cualquier cambio de última hora. Hasta el próximo verano.

Barrika Surf kamp is a quiet place to learn to surf with a highly qualified instructors and very good food.

Lugar privilegiado, fue una estancia perfecta. Desayuno genial y todo muy limpio. Zona tranquila y fácil aparcamiento.
Buena atención por parte de todo el personal, felicitar a Nagore por su amabilidad y hospitalidad desde el primer momento en que nos pusimos en contacto con ella. Nos acogió como si estuviéramos en su casa y estuvo muy atenta todos los días.
Profesores y profesoras de surf muy implicados y agradables. Si no se dan las condiciones óptimas para el baño, te ofrecen el acceso a otra playa para poder surfear.
Muy satisfechos con la estancia, volveremos seguro!

Encantado con Barrika Surf Camp, con Nagore y lxs monitorxs de surf. Nos han tratado todxs estupendamente. Es un lugar tranquilo, bonito y que te hacen sentir como en casa. Les felicito a todxs por su gran trabajo. Todo esta impecable, y te lo ponen facil. Volvere seguro!

Nagore nos recibió muy bien y nos explicó que ver y hacer por la zona. El hostel super cómodo y confortable.

I stayed from 3-8 november 2021 in Barikka Surfcamp. I had came with a campervan from my friend. I was later than i expected. But the staff stay longer to welcome. Very friendly staff who helped for with information about surfspots, transport to airport. I didnt need surflesson so the owner bring me 2 times to Plentzia surfspot by car. After the surfsession i had to walk by abour 50 min on foot. Good workout. So better u come with your own car or you book surfguiding by car. U also can have surf lesson with Lurte the owner of the surfcamp. Very friendly surfdude with lots of experience. The surfcamp was empty it was lowseason.so 4 nights i was alone.the last 2 night there was 1 other quests.he had surflesson. There is good wifi so at night i could see my netflix movies/series. I come back for sure. Breakfast was good.i could order wat i want. The beds are ok and there are lockers in the room.

Great camp with a very cosy atmosphere. I recommend staying here because of the awesome team & teachers. Probably the best surf camp in the area

Great place (with barbecue). Pay attention to do your shopping first if you have no véhicule and don't want to eat in the camp.

I had not terrible but not so good experience here. First, they overbooked the place and for the price of a bed they put us on a tent while it was incredible cold. Also, considering you are there to surf and need good sleep quality to make the most of the trip, it wasn't the nicest. The breakfast isn't the best to be fair and the meals that you get for 10EUR are small considering that after surfing you get really hungry.

They don't rent equipment so you need to take classes, but the classes are with a big number of people, so if you are a beginner trying to get better, you need someone to look at you and help you fix your mistakes, which is hard if there are two teachers for like 20 people. I went there, didn't sleep well most of the nights, had to take meals outside the camp, didn't make the best of the waves because of these constraints.

I strongly suggest renting a cheap hotel/airbnb and getting cheaper and more personalized classes in the area.

Nice staff and owner, clean, cool that you can book surf lessons straight from them. There's a little hut (visible in the picture) for 5 people, and a much nicer dorm in the main house. The hostel is situated on quite a steep hill by the sea side. Walking to the metro station Plentzia takes 30 min, to the main surf beach Sopelana nearby about 1h. A few things can be improved in my opinion: 1) Breakfast is included and consists of tea, coffee, white bread, butter, jam, fruits, milk and corn flakes. I can't have milk (lactose intolerant) and am not a huge fan of white bread, so was not left with many options. My friends and I went to a supermarket to buy our own extra food for breakfast. 2) Breakfast is always late. When they tell you it starts at 8: 30, expect to have bread by closer to 9.3) You can have lunch/dinner at Barrika for €10 per meal. A good deal, but the portions are small, especially when you've been surfing. 4) It would be awesome if they let you rent wetsuits and boards as well. Unfortunately, that's not possible. You have to book a surf lesson to get these things from them. Generally, renting surfboards (and wetsuits) is surprisingly difficult in the area. So, all in all, we had a great time. 5 stars would be too much, 3 too little, so 4 is the right rating (in my opinion). Thank you to Lurta and his staff for the nice time.

Best surf house ever! Lurta will teach you everything you want to know about surfing, with patience and a smile:)
Very recommended. I hope to come back one day.

Home is where the heart is and I will always think of Barrika Surf Kamp as a home.

This is where Lurta (The 'Mr Miyagi' of surfing) taught me to surf - the right way - both with training in the ocean - on the mini ramp, on the carver boards, in the class room and with training in the swimming pool and in the garden (walking slackline, physical work outs and deep yoga work).

I now travel the world surfing and always find that I'm able to make friends in the water because of how Lurta taught me to respect the waves and other surfers - always with a smile.

I can't wait to come back home to Barrika Surf Kamp next.
