Observatorio Astronómico de Temisas

A pesar de que las instalaciones del observatorio están totalmente abandonadas por parte del gobierno canario y es todo bastante cutre y rudimentario, Israel, la persona encargada del lugar y quien se encarga de dar charlas a los visitantes y enseñarles el cielo, es una persona muy agradable, divertida y se nota que le apasiona este mundo y con las mismas ganas te lo transmite.
Ya solo por estar con el un par de horas viendo el cielo y aprendiendo cosas, merece la pena y se puede perdonar lo demás.

Por otra parte, tampoco estaría mal que asfaltaran la senda que conduce al observatorio, que te dejas los bajos del coche.

No fue una experiencia reseñable al no poder ni mirar siquiera a través del telescopio el cielo por haber muchas nubes y sólo una o dos estrellas visibles. Aunque a todos se nos dio la oportunidad de poder volver otro Viernes, esta opción resultó inviable por tener que regresar a la península. Un visita que nos dejó mucho que desear a pesar de la charla y la amabilidad con la que fuimos recibido. Dudaría si repetir alguna vez si tuviera la oportunidad pues entre otras razones no hay un teléfono con el que contactar y al correo electrónico, al menos al que yo he enviado no le hicieron ni caso.

Una experiencia preciosa, conocer las estrellas, los planetas y poderlos observar en familia, es de agradecer.
El consejo que les doy es que si van con niños, para que no se cansen pronto, que duerman la siesta porque entre la explicación y la observación dura casi 3 horas y al ser de noche puede que los más pequeños se cansen.

Este sitio es una pasada pero el unico problema fue que la cosa esa grande la capsula o lo que sea jajaja no funcionaba, lo demas perfecto por eso dejo esta pedazo de reseña.

Increíble que, a tan sólo unos kilómetros de Agüimes y de muy fácil acceso desde el autopista, se halle un observatorio astronómico, lógicamente muy sencillo. Para acceder se toma la carretera que une Agüimes con Santa Lucía de Tirajana pasando por Temisas, superado este poblado está el observatorio, un problema que tiene es el aparcamiento aunque, una vez abierto parece posible que algunos coches quepan dentro del lugar, el acceso a hasta allí no es demasiado bueno al tratarse de un pista de tierra. Se compone de un edificio principal y una pequeña torre metálica cupular donde está un telescopio. Para acudir, se ofrecen visitas en grupo concertadas y también para escolares.

Todo perfecto, la experiencia fue muy interesante y entretenida y nos animó a seguir conociendo mas el cósmos

Muchas gracias a todos por vuestras reseñas, pero antes que nada, un pequeño comentario, creo que esto es el resultado de un sueño profundo y gratificante, pero la realidad es completamente distinta, Juan Mari no contesta los correos, suponiendo que esté bien de salud, y que siga trabajando allí, el observatorio está cerrado a Calicanto, porque yo subí por la mañana, para ver si realmente existía, y si Juan Mari prestaba servicio de manera tan eficiente como decís. No obstante, le he mandado diferentes correos electrónicos, y lo he puesto en conocimiento de los puntos de información turística, por si es necesario llamar al 112, en caso de la ocurrencia de una desgracia, o si efectivamente, no es una leyenda urbana y el observatorio al que os estais refiriendo tan graciosamente existe. Gracias a todos.

My experience is that I booked a tour, using the proper process, one month before my visit. The instruction sent by email told me the tour would start at 22: 00 and I should arrive 5 minutes before the start. When I arrived at 21: 50 I was told that the tour had already started at 20: 00 and was now almost completed. There was no apology at the time - there was just a man shouting this message at me and my 70-year-old father through the locked gate in the dark. I complained later by email and Alicia then apologised by email and acknowledged her mistake.

David was a brilliant host and extremely informative. A great evening out that’s educational and fun with the rare opportunity to see our beautiful night sky from one of the best locations on Earth. Well worth the trip and would recommend this to anyone. There is a area for parking so don’t be put off by the walk up to the observatory. The views are amazing from the top of you get there early. Need to bear in mind that the facilities are extremely basic.

An absolute must do if you are in the area, if you are not into stars or planets then you will be after a visit here. If you have knowledge then this is the next step of seeing the celestial body's through powerful telescopes. The English guide is very passionate and patient with everyone and makes it a wonderful experience. It was a delightful evening spent here.

Maravilloso sitio y la mejor forma de hacer Turismo Astronómico. Al igual que para iniciarse en la Astronomía. Gracias a Juan María que se nota su vocación y entusiasmo. 100% recomendable y volveremos sin pensarlo.

Juan María nos dio una charla estupenda. Además nos quitó dudas a la hora de empezar a observar nosotros mismos planetas y estrellas. Iremos a próximas charlas y talleres que también se dan!

Esperienza affascinante iniziata con l'introduzione alla fotografia notturna, la proiezione di foto varie e soprattutto l'esplorazione del cielo e delle varie costellazioni. Come ciliegina sulla torta, la vista spettacolare della luna con un telescopio professionale! Consigliato a tutti: famiglie con bambini e adulti.

A great introduction to astronomy and observing the heavens. David is a very knowledgeable host and clearly passionate about the subject. Would thoroughly recommend a visit to anyone. You will leave enlightened and entertained.

Hermosa experiencia No sé muy bien el idioma español, pero seguí la lección muy bien, siendo temas que conozco bien y me explicaron muy claramente.lástima que en este período no hubiera luna ni planetas grandes como Júpiter o Saturno, por esta razón las observaciones eran limitadas; Espero volver en una noche mejor

We visited the observatory on 21th March and were very impressed by the level of the presentation. Our guide was very good at explaining complicated things in a very easy way.
The best part was when we were looking at the night sky and learned about many interesting objects.
Highly recommended:)

Professional arrangement with good lectures on different observations in the night sky. From the easiest way to observe to more advanced methods that have evolved over the years.
We had our 9 year old daughter with us and she was thrilled.
The last part with the telescope was amazing, our daughter still talks about the nebulae we observe3d this evening.

I will mostly recommend a trip to this observatory.

Really cool. Loads of interesting information before looking at stars & the moon through the telescope. Wait until he gets the laser out to show the constellations!

David was a great host and gave excellent explanation. You see the guy has passion for astronomy. I immediately felt motivate to pursue exploring the subject on my own. 2h passed very quickly. We were with the small kid, it is not ideal. Road is long and the event is during the night.

Muy muy interesante la charla de astrofotografía. Cuando alguien tiene pasión por lo que hace y sabe explicar las cosas tan bien es difícil no disfrutar.

A must see for everyone, not only stargazing aficionados! Our host - David - was not only knowledgeable but also able to pass knowledge in an easily digestible and funny way.

There are 3 parts of the presentations:
1) slideshow about the cosmos, stars and planets
2) outside laser guide presentations of sky movement and star navigation (we also used binoculars)
3) Sky observation at the dome - we saw Orion Nebula, the Moon and the double star

It took more than 2 hours and was extremely informative as well as exciting (especially observation of the nebula and the Moon).

Highly recommended!

Fantástico, entretenido, didáctico y divertido, al final pudimos ver estrellas porque se despejó.
Lo ideal sería concertar un grupo pequeño para ver muchas cosas y realmente no sale caro y merece la pena

Such a great way to spend an evening! The observatory is perfectly positioned for uninterrupted views of the sky, and the big telescope is amazing to look through. Our guide David was clearly very passionate about astronomy and hugely knowledgeable on the subject. We had a fantastic time!

Muy interesante la charla y la experiencia, lo malo es que el tiempo no acompañó en absoluto (mucho viento y calima), pero me gustaría repetir en otro momento con mejores condiciones climáticas.

This was one of the most exciting experiences of my life. The guide was very knowledgeable and suppo nice and helpful, he happily answered all of our questions. The sky was magnificent and it was absolutely astonishing to look through the telescope and the sky, and especially the craters of the moon! This is a must-visit for anyone coming to Gran Canaria!

Fantastic experience! David was really clear, detailed and also fun in his presentation; you can perceive his passion when he talks about the skies. Stargazing and then the telescope experiences were amazing. Totally worth one's time and money!

A wonderful and exciting place to visit. Our host, David was passionate and explained efficiently how to look at the sky like an astronomer. I hope this initiative is carried on for generations to come and I hope to visit again soon. Remember to bring warm clothing.

AWESOME! Such and interesting and beautiful night! The guide was extremely friendly and explained everything very well! We could have a look at moon craters, Mars and some nebulae, it was amazing. It was one of my favourite experience on Gran Canaria, I definitely recommend this to anyone who likes to have the head in stars.
