Hotel Barcelona Catedral

Excelente ubicación, a pasos de la Catedral, comida y compras. El personal es muy amistoso y útil. El desayuno es maravilloso con muchas ofertas. El gimnasio ofrecía una buena selección de equipos y pesas. La piscina era muy bonita. El vino y el queso de las 5 de la tarde fueron muy hospitalarios. Me encanta este hotel, viajo mucho y este está en mi top 5. ¡¡Volveré!

El servicio al cliente fue horrible. Nos alojamos allí por una noche y comimos en el restaurante. Familia con 2 niños, el restaurante tenía algunos clientes, pero nos sentamos en la zona del bar con dos pequeñas mesas redondas para cenar. El servicio fue muy lento incluso con el bajo número de clientes. La comida no estaba preparada según lo ordenado. Fui muy específico con las alergias de mis hijos y, sin embargo, nuestra comida no llegó según lo ordenado. Mi hijo tuvo una reacción alérgica grave que arruinó el resto de la velada. No estaban dispuestos a preparar la comida de forma adecuada ni enfática. Hablé con el gerente y su servicio al cliente fue incluso menor que el del servidor. Pagamos el desayuno. El servicio no fue mucho mejor. Tenían suficiente personal pero eran lentos. En general, el servicio al cliente necesita una gran mejora. Excelente ubicación, pero recomendaría encarecidamente no alojarse allí.

El personal fue muy amable e incluso recibió un pastel de cumpleaños, una vela, un sekt y una canción de cumpleaños.

Hotel promedio. Habitaciones muy pequeñas. Buena ubicación. Al hotel le falta atención al detalle. Personal amigable.

Nous avons passé 4 nuits dans cet établissement. Malgré un emplacement parfait (très central et proche de toute commodité, toutes les sites touristiques peuvent se faire à pieds), nous avons trouvé les équipements corrects mais légèrement vieillissants. L’hôtel étant central, il est relativement bruyant et mal insonorisé (bruits extérieurs et bruits venant des autres chambres). Nous avons également eu très froid et il ne nous était pas possible de régler la température.
La note est toutefois justifiée par le vol d’une liseuse en chambre. Après signalement, l’hôtel nous a simplement proposé de faire un mail.
Nous ne recommandons pas cet établissement.

This hotel deserves a 0. It is not clean as there is dust in the room. There was a hole in the wall of my “superior room”. When asked to cancel my reservation, the receptionist Sergio out right refused. The hotel lobby smells like dirty mop water, which intensifies once you get off the elevator to your room. Very shabby renovations with paint splatter over the light switch plates. Pictures for your viewing pleasure below.

Amazing location with awesome staff. Jeremy, the bar tender, was especially courteous. Cannot fault this hotel at all. Had an amazing time. Definitely be back!

Beautiful hotel in a central location with everything you need right beside. The staff were so nice & helpful & there is a bar serving drinks all day. We really liked having the pool located on the roof to chill during the hottest part of the day. We stayed in room 201 which was really spacious and the bed was super king size, cleaning staff were so lovely. Muchas gracias!

My six nights here were great. The bed was comfy, room was clean every day, and the staff were so friendly!

The bar made good drinks that were reasonably priced as well (compared to USA haha).

Although it was a bit too chilly to use the pool, the rooftop was a nice relaxing place to unwind.

On day 1 we had a small problem with the shower and tub switch mechanism and the staff took care of it so quickly that I can't even knock off a star!

Oh, and how can I not mention the location? It's perfect! Right in the heart of the Gothic quarter, steps away from Barcelona Cathedral and within ten minutes walking distance of numerous attractions like La Rambla, Plaza Catalunya, La Boqueria, etc.

I will absolutely stay here again as soon as I can travel to this amazing city again!

This hotel took our money and our booking months in advance. When we arrived we found out they had overbooked and given our room away.

Understandable, mistakes happen, especially during busy periods. However, rather than make things right, the hotel refused to deal with us beyond offering to give us a room at another night (as a tourist about to leave the country, this was obviously not a suitable compromise).

They refused to deal with us further or promise to pay the difference for any accommodation (apparently no managers on staff during the F1 weekend), so we ended up having to, on our own through a tour group guide, arrange a much lower quality accommodation for more money after trawling through booking sites and airbnb for several hours (ended up costing several hundred euros more on account of the late booking and low availabilities in the city, that we are still not sure will be compensated! A comparable hotel would have been thousands more given the late booking).

It's one thing to make a mistake like this, it's another to not even be willing to talk or work with your customers to make it right.

This is the risk you take if you book with them, so I caution you accordingly.

TL;DR; unethical and irresponsible hospitality practice with no contingency protocol for overbooking, and our tour agent had to fork out almost 1,000 euro to replace our accomodation at other 3-star hotel as ~99% of the hotels were fully booked in Barcelona (available rooms were over 900 euro a night).
Long story:
We booked 3 rooms via our tour agent months ago.
When we arrived at ~1: 30pm, we’re told that only 2 rooms were booked and one of the receptionists appeared to be irritated, rude, and impatient that we asked him to check if there was any mistake from their end, but they’re insistent that it’s our fault and say it’s only 2 rooms in their system and their rooms are fully booked?
We were tired and hungry and didn’t want to argue on that until we know who was responsible for the mess up, so we decided to leave our luggages at hotel, and sort out with our tour agent at the restaurant. One of the receptionists was very helpful and friendly in assisting with us with the luggage storage.:)
After back and forth with many parties for an hour while we’re dining, all parties (including the hotel) agreed that it’s the hotel’s fault for overbooking.
The hotel offered us to swap our stay with another night at theirs as compensation for their mess up, but we’re leaving Barcelona the next day. All the hotels in the proximity were fully booked due to F1 formula event.
We acknowledge that mistakes happen from time to time, we’re receptive of mistakes as long as they’re fairly rectified and sincerely learnt. However, the hotel didn’t have any contingency protocol when this scenario happens. There was no manager in charge, who we hoped that they’d have helped us a comparable accomodation, and that makes us helpless. We don’t speak Spanish and we don’t know the city well enough, and all our activities on last day in Barcelona were planned around the city centre that’s the reason we booked this hotel.
Our tour agent, my partner and I were trying hours to find appropriate accomodation in Barcelona city centre for hours instead, in order to compensate for the hotel management’s incompetences. We ended up with a 3 star hotel and the tour agent had to fork out almost 1,000 euro to a hotel with basic amenities so we didn’t have to be sleeping on the street.
Apart from monetary side, we had to forgo planned family bonding time due to this arrangement. My partner’s parents and aunt stayed at the hotel, and we
thought we could have a nice time with them and would have the opportunity to say goodbye to them when we leave the next day as we hardly see them. Due to this, we had to say good-bye a day earlier.
Book at your own risk, you’ve been warned.

Although the hotel could use a slight renovation, it is clean and pleasant to look at. I would say it has the best location for city vacation. And breakfast: top notch! It was lush and splendid. Also, the staff was very nice. Super happy with our stay!

Great location close to the cathedral square. Comfortable room amd bed. Close to what you need - shops restaurants etc. Staff were good especially Pol. Bar downstairs was convenient to people watch and drink coffee. The kissing mural is right outside and has pool on the roof. Even tho the weather wasn’t good enough to use it. Bathroom was great too. Bath shower and good toiletries. WiFi decent too. Would recommend.

For years now our hotel in Barcelona. Always good, friendly. See you soon again. Water pressure in the shower could be little better.

Stayed here and was treated well. Tastefully decorated rooms. Cocktail special each day (one of which ambushed me on my birthday - might've been the two bottles of vino which came before!) A birthday cake for breakfast with tortilla! How bad! Even a lost phone came safely home! A memorable birthday stay! I did say it was a birthday, didn't I?

Breakfast is good but the rooms are extremely hot and the bed is uncomfortable. Pillows are also not the best.

Vamos con un cupón de Groupon y de primeras nos dicen que ya no trabajan con la compañía, que nos apañemos nosotros para que nos devuelvan el dinero. No ofrecen ni un miserable descuento o compensación.

Decidimos sentarnos, pedimos unas chips y no saben decirme si tienen gluten o no. También pedimos un mojito, y vuelven al rato a decirnos que no tienen menta, que nos pidamos otra cosa.

Nos ofrece varios cócteles, le pregunto qué llevan y no me saber decir bien, así que pido una cerveza sin gluten. Mi pareja no sabe que cóctel quiere y pide la carta. Yo le digo que no me sirva la cerveza, que mejor traiga la carta y ya veré. Y me trae la carta CON la cerveza. Muy triste que ni se acuerde que cancelé la cerveza, siendo 5 personas en el bar para 3 camareros.

En fin. Dos estrellas porque al menos el precio no es extremadamente alto para la zona, y el lugar era bonito y muy cómodo

Hotel Barcelona Catedral is centrally located in the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona City. The position makes it ideal for sightseeing, shopping and dining and everything is literally an easy stroll from the hotel. Our room on the 3rd floor was clean, spacious enough an had a well appointed bathroom. In room safe, king bed, refrigerator, ample storage space and wifi throughout the hotel (and room) made our stay quite comfortable. The breakfast was extensive and when you sit down and are greeted with the first course of pastries, freshly squeezed orange juice and hot coffee, you know you are in for a hearty start to the day. Your second course is an assortment of hot and cold dishes that include locals meats & cheeses that are delightful. Truly I have an appetite and I challenge anyone to walk away hungry. All of the staff did a great job and were so pleasant and obliging. Each day housekeeping were immaculate in the cleaning and tidying of our room, which is always important to us. Downstairs staff at the front counter, bar and restaurant were fantastic. In particular I'd like to give a special mention to Sergi, Oriel, Nuria & Cris who all worked very hard and were so helpful. The personal service these ladies & gents provided was wonderful and it's that kind of friendly and helpful attitudes that makes you want to return to the hotel and tell others of your experience. Lobby and security staff were also great and never short of advice when asked. 5 o'clock drinks with cheese, quince jelly & other tasty nibbles was also a nice touch and a great opportunity to mingle with other hotel guests. In summary this was my first hotel in Spain and Barcelona and I'm looking forward to the other cities in this trip.

I chose this hotel because of their lap pool on the roof and close proximity to lots in BCN!
It is not an inexpensive hotel.
I was robbed within 1 hour of checking into the hotel, about 50’ from the front door!
Let me tell you, not one person at the hotel alerted me to the dangers on the streets especially in front of this hotel!
After I was robbed I made it back to the front desk and they offered me the use of their phone! I stupidly agreed to use it, as I was grossly overcharged for the use when I checked out!
I used the phone only to turn off certain private internet items!

Great place and was able to accommodate early check-in. Room was clean and well appointed. There was a happy hour in the bar that was nice but the snacks went quickly! Be advised that Uber will not pick up from this hotel due to traffic restrictions. You need to walk with your luggage to the main street. Cabs are permitted outside the hotel.

I made a reservation for one night. Hotel seems nice so i decided to stay here. Check inn was nice in my first opinion. When I entered the room it was tidy and it looked clean. I was tired to i decided to lay on the bed. I woke up after an hour and went to the bathroom. I saw that it was old and dirty. Rusty bath, stains and smutchy towels. And so much dust everywhere. And not from one day no complete nests of dust. Everywhere in the room.

I wanted to change room but they where fully booked. I hated this because my bed was also really bad. I was laying in a hole. I didnt sleep good and my back hurts because of the bed.

Next morning i went complaining and even said to the reception for this price you can expect something (€220) a night. He said to me yes sorry but i dont make the prices and do the beds. Awfull hotel and never again!

La estrella es por la excelente ubicación. La experiencia ha sido poco agradable, el aseo en las habitaciones no es el mejor, el primer dia en el desayuno hubo una camarera poco atenta, el agua en la habitación tenia poca fuerza. Nos cambiaron de habitación y en la otra el baño estaba sucio. Esta bien ubicado pero falta mejor atención y cuidados.

This is a fabulous boutique-style hotel in the Gothic quarter, literally, at a stone-throw from the Barcelona Cathedral and super close to everything (restaurants, cafes, shops, you name it!). We stayed here from June 27 to July 1, on a last minute booking after cancelling a reservation at the Negresco Princess, due to concerns after reading a recent review on Trip Advisor.
The hotel was everything we're wishing it would be and more. It reminded us of The Bel Ami on the left bank in Paris, where we stayed a few years ago, but better, with more amenities and, yes, a bit cheaper.
Although very centrally located and close to a lot of action, the HBC allowed for an extremely quiet stay. Our room (double with king-size bed) was on the 3rd floor, overlooking Carrer dels Sagristans and you couldn't hear a peep from outside. The room was spacious, with a super comfortable bed, flat tv, safe, and a nice bathroom (fyi, it looked exactly as in the picture on their website)
Breakfast, which was included in our rate, was bountiful and yummy! Also, the hotel offered a complimentary daily wine and cheese tasting by the bar area, which was nice but very brief, as it only lasted about 15 minutes. We did not get to eat at the hotel restaurant (4 Capellans) because it only serves lunch and the timing did not play with our schedule but, the setting was beautiful and inviting and had an interesting menu.
I couldn't finish without mentioning the friendliness of the staff in general, and particularly of Jordi, Melisa and a few others we interacted with but don't remember their names at this moment. You all made our stay a very pleasant one and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
We highly recommend this hotel and will surely book it when visiting Barcelona again.

Esplendida ubicacion, como tambien exquisito desayuno, personal del hotel muy amable y con buena disposicion.
Buena piscina pero podria ser mas grata la terraza, si no estuviera como vitrina para los edificios vecinos, que el gerente invierta un poco para formar un cerco de plantas altas, para independizarla a ambos lados. Imperdonable, que en dormitorios no haya mueble con cajones para guardar la ropa y que en baño no haya extractor de olores y vapor asi como veladores a ambos lados de las camas. Lo demas bien

The hotel is lovely. Friendly staff nothing a problem for them and hard working housekeepers. Room was very clean. Bed was very comfy The breakfast came with a menu as well as help yourself. Would highly recommend this hotel. Right next to the cathedral. Nice little chocolate box shop just next door

Great location with just a walkable everything in Barcelona! I rated 3 stars only for the location, breakfast wasn't a buffet as they published on "Booking", and they just wouldn't let us check out late even that we offered to pay for it.

Gorgeous hotel in a great location. Rooms are state of the art and funky. Breakfast is enormous. Lovely touches like free cheese and wine in the evening. Room 512 recommended

Aucune compréhension - Vol annulé le vendredi soir pour raison météorologiques (nous devions rester 2 nuits, total 330 euros au mois de février). Tenté 5x d'appeler l'établissement en direct ou via le voyagiste pour annuler ma réservation et tenter de récupérer au moins la nuit du samedi soir vu que nous ne pouvions plus venir sur Barcelone. Aucune réponse - aucun message. Ce n'est que mardi, soit 5 jours après que l'on me dit froidement qu'aucun remboursement ne peut m'être effectué.

Navrant car l'hôtel aurait DU répondre plus tôt pour au moins tenter de discuter.

De plus le service à la clientèle ne dot pas s'arrêter à donner un guide de la ville de Barcelone à la réception mais aussi de comprendre des voyageurs qui avaient choisis cet établissement, se trouvaient dans une situation délicate et qui ne rêvaient que d'une chose, passer u n bon moment.

J'ai l'impression de m'être fait voler 330 euros, sans avoir eu la moindre chance de pouvoir de manière fairplay tenter de régler le problème.

The hotel was new and gave a mix between modern and vintage design. I was particularly impressed with the welcome hall. Rooms were spacious and well equipped. The location was also great, few minutes walk to the main tourist attractions. Staff are friendly and supportive. Breakfast was ok, noting spectacular but there were a lot of options. Price is reasonable, maybe i will come back.

Un dels espais més excepcionals del casc antic de Barcelona, amb un jardí interior que és com entrar a un oasi en mig de la ciutat! Atenció personal molt cuidada!

Room was lovely, clean, and well-appointed. Loved the shower! Food and drinks at the bar were good. The only downside was that the doors to the rooms are incredibly thin, allowing a lot of sound to travel. Even though I am a very sound sleeper I was woken up a couple of times by noise in the hallways. In addition, when I was in the hallway I could hear every word of my neighbor's conversation with his girlfriend.

Great location and friendly staff. Rooms are spacious and modern. And they have baths! So rare in hotels these days. Just what I needed for a weekend away.

They offer a free walking tour of the Gothic quarter every Wednesday evening and Sunday morning.

I would definitely recommend.
