Yves Nicolier - Cooking Experiences - Private Chef

Chef Yves provided our family with an excellent, customized cooking class. Our teenage daughters loved learning to make a vegetable paella, fish, chicken, and almond cake. It was a wonderful afternoon and absolutely worth the drive out of Barcelona. A highlight of our trip!

I visited Barcelona with a group of friends and this was by far the most AMAZING experience! From the moment Yves picks you up till the time you are finished you will have a once in a life time experience. If you are looking for a custom, market to table, hands on cooking tour this is the only experience I would recommend. This isn’t only a cooking tour, Yves takes you through the market and teaches you about local food, the history of Barcelona, different regional dishes and anything else you can think to ask him about. For anyone who has dietary restrictions this is a tour that will not disappoint. Since Yves helps you decide on a custom multi course menu he can conform to any dietary requests all while using fresh ingredients and helping you learn how to cook. As someone who has high expectations for food and wine quality I was blown away by the customization and the overall quality of everything during this experience. There is nothing I would have changed about the day my fiends and I had.

We had the pleasure of doing a Cooking Class & Meal with Chef Yves in Barcelona. I can't recommend chef Yves enough! We had wonderful time wandering the Boqueria market where Yves had different suggestions of what we could cook for a starter, a main course and a dessert (we had a hard time choosing as everything sounded so great!) At the end we ended up choosing to try steak fillet with foie gras and monk fish for main courses, artichokes for a starter and strawberries in an orange sauce for the dessert. After the market we headed to Yves house (An experience for itself as it is located in a non touristic area and it was great to see a different side of Barcelona. The view from the roof is a plus!). We cooked the meal together with Yves and I have to say since then we adopted the artichokes and the strawberries into our menu. The meat and fish turned out to be out of this world but we didn't try to make them at home not to spoil the memory:) Overall fantastic experience! Highly recommended!

Phenomenal experience going to the market and then up on the mountain side overseeing all of Barcelona to be a sous chef to one of the nicest guys ever!

The food was phenomenal! Yves Is extraordinarily knowledgeable about local foods and wonderful preparations! I highly recommend anyone that is interested to take on the experience. You will not be dissatisfied!

Fantastic day from start to finish. Yves is a great host and the meal we prepared was beautiful. Could not rate the experience more highly. Will hopefully be back in the future for more culinary delights of the region. Definately one not to miss.

Our private cooking class with Yves exceeded our expectations and was the highlight of our trip to Barcelona. Learning from and spending time with a local family made us feel right at home. Cooking in the home and taking in the view of amazing Barcelona from the roof was truly unforgettable! Absolutely must book on your trip to Barcelona!

Yves is so welcoming and such a great teacher. I've done multiple cooking classes with him and am blown away with how much fun I have every time. My family’s experience with Yves was unforgettable. My wife, seven year old daughter (at the time) and I enjoyed ourselves so much. Between shopping at the market, cooking the food together, and then having a wonderful meal with great company. I can’t recommend this enough!

We took a cruise from Rome to Barcelona with the kids (18,15,13,10) and spent one evening with Yves for the market tour and cooking. This was the highlight of the trip for all of us. Such a great experience to really enjoy the wonderful food of Barcelona. We have since sent friends to Yves and will definitely do this again the next time we make the trip.

When visiting Barcelona, we wanted to have a true Spanish culinary experience. Fortunately Yves led us on that experience in his kitchen (and then on his rooftop with a beautiful view of Barcelona while dining). We started our experience with Yves at one of the famous Barcelona markets to build the menu and buy fresh ingredients. Our teenage daughters loved it as well. I highly recommend Yves if you want to create authentic Spanish cuisine with an exceptional chef while in Barcelona!

I gave our cooking experience with Yves 5 stars because we truly have a special evening. Our teenage children were completely engaged during the entire shopping and cooking experience. We felt welcome and comfortable in Yves home, had an amazing dinner and drank wonderful wine. We loved learning and participating in the local culture of Barcelona, not as a tourist, but as a guest.

This cooking class was definitely a highlight of our trip to the city of Barcelona. Yves met us at the Boqueria Market-which is one of the best public markets in the world and an experience in itself. He walked us around as we looked for what to make. We got to pick what we'd like to cook that day with suggestions from Yves. So many incredible ingredients! And we love to cook. He gave us possibilities for many of the ingredients and how we could prepare them. Then we voted on several dishes (there was another couple from Holland who signed up which made it a lovelier experience), Yves purchased the items, and then we all hopped in his car and he took us to his home (about 20 mins away). He has a beautiful, warm and charming home w-a well appointed kitchen. We went up to the roof for a glass of wine and to take in the view upon arrival. It was breathtaking. During warmer months he a actually conducts the classes up there as there is a full hearth and stove on the roof. Then we went back down into the kitchen, put our aprons on and began cooking! Yves is a great director. We did ALL the prep and cooking and he guided us. This is hands on and that's what we wanted.

He is genuine and with a great energy about him. Felt like an old friend. We cooked, drank wine, talked and laughed, and enjoyed a great lunch at his table. It was very cool. Felt like we were over a friends house for lunch. His wife popped in for a second on her way in from Yoga to say Bona tarda!

He tool everyone's likes into consideration and we were able to make dishes we all wanted to learn how to make.and still make now at home in Chicago!

Afterward he called us an Uber and we were dropped back off at the Boqueria Market. We met him there at 10am and got back to the market at 4pm. It was an all day excursion. So plan accordingly.

It was a great experience to be able to come into someone's home and get a snapshot of what life is like for them. Wish we could do this in every city we visit. It really gave us a great sense of Barcelona and its culture and traditions. So glad Yves has created this wonderful opportunity for folks visiting Barcelona. Can't wait to come back!
