Hotel Alda Palas de Rei

Rooms are small, they fit three beds where only two would fit. The service is terrible: at the reception a young man welcomed us with bad attitude. They needed a Spanish postal code because we have a Spanish ID, but we do live in Spain so don't have one. They made it a problem instead of trying to offer a solution like typing a random postal code. They also asked us to decide in that moment whether we would have breakfast the next day to "make it easier for the worker". It's the hotel staff who should make it easier for us. There was no soap in the bathroom so we had to go ask for it at the reception and we were given some one-use soap bags as if it was an airplane. The "restaurant" is a huge tent that looks like a camping site. It feels like they are being cheap to saves costs. The location is far (1km) from the village and there's nothing close by.

Se trata de un sitio en un entorno muy agradable. Aunque el pueblo está a apenas 10 minutos andando, lo malo fue volver de noche ya que el camino no está iluminado y tuvimos que isar las linternas de los móviles.

Habitaciones limpias y acogedoras.
El punto débil es la insonorización de las habitaciones ya que se podía entender perfectamente la conversación de la habitación de al lado. Aunque es cierto que al ser un alojamiento principalmente de peregrinos, los huéspedes se acuestan temprano.

El desayuno estupendo, muy completo y de calidad.

Fatal. El personal inexperto, con poco conocimiento del entorno y sin saber dar opciones. Las habitaciones normalitas, pero los baños con mal olor y moho de humedad, pero lo peor la comida, es de catering y se sirve en una carpa. Tuvimos suerte porque nos hizo buen tiempo, no me imagino cómo puede ser con frío y lluvia. Desde luego no lo recomiendo para nada

Habitaciones muy buenas, servicio distante y no nos avisaron con antelación de que tenían servicio de lavandería roto ya que una de las razones de coger ese sitio fue eso para seguir el camino y ubicación a las afueras pero se está tranquilo. Buen sitio

La habitación en principio parecía muy bien, pero al no tener aire acondicionado, el calor era insoportable. La recepción y el desayuno más parecía propia de un campamento de boy scouts que para personas ya adultas. La atención si fue muy buena

Después de ver las reseñas, este hotel me sorprendió gratamente. Llegamos el día de más calor y de la etapa más dura y nos encontramos (otra vez) sin aire acondicionado, sin embargo aquí me pegué la mejor ducha de todo El Camino. Presión, espacio y cierre perfectos. Las camas también increíbles, un sueño perfecto. El servicio muy amable.
Lo peor, no tiene restaurante y está a las afueras de Palas de Rei.

Bungalows de madera de dimensiones aceptables. Requiere de algo de mantenimiento. La comida es catering y no tienen servicio de bar (solo máquinas expendedoras).

Servicio de cenas tienes que pedirlo con 14 días de antelación y checking a partir de las 3 de la tarde. Nada de ello informan al hacer la reserva. Mal aislamiento de las habitaciones. Muy caro en relación al servicio y calidad de las habitaciones. No repetiría nunca.

Hice el camino de Santiago con mi perro. Es un sitio muy acogedor, no le falta detalle y te lo hacen muy fácil gracias a su trato y profesionalidad. Está situado a 8 minutos andando de la iglesia del pueblo por dónde sigues el camino. Muy recomendable.

It's not a great place to stay. We were doing the Camino 3 weeks ago, we had to eat our evening dinner in a marquee in front of the cabins, where there were ants crawling all over tables and chairs, the pictures on the website look nothing like where we stayed. The food wasn't great. We had to wheel our cases to the little shed over rough ground it wasn't easy we ended up carrying both our cases. It's way out of town with nothing around. I'm glad we brought our digestive biscuits to eat because there was no way I was eating in the tent.

Ubicado en las afueras del pueblo, muy tranquilo y rodeado de vegetación con amplias zonas de jardín. Vistas al bosque y habitaciones con buena privacidad

Change of owners to Galician Hotel chain but the Hotel is deteriorating fast. Service from reception & kitchen team is fine. Accommodation is showing age and there's lots of dust on walls & poor insulation. The set menu is very poor the saddest on our Camino. The storage shed is dirty and poorly maintained. Overall very disappointing not fault of workers but poor management by Alda.

As a pilgrim on the Camino, I only ask for three things from a hotel: hot water, a comfortable bed, and a polite staff. When I arrived at Hotel Alda, the woman could not find my reservation. I showed her my confirmation. She asked if I had just made the reservation and I told her I had made it three weeks before. She seemed upset and treated me like the mistake was on my end. After two phone calls she finally found my reservation. At one point I tried to say something and she “shushed” me. I got my passport and left, even though the room charge was non refundable. I found other accommodations that met my three criteria.

Absolutely awful. No customer service ethos, poor facilities and a total aversion to making you feel welcome from book in to checking out. I’m a 58 year old well travelled man and have never experienced any thing like this place. Avoid at all costs. One star purely to allow review
