I enjoyed HelpHousing. They made moving to Madrid from out of the country fairly easy, and I appreciated the helpfulness of Lorena and Carmen during my time living in the HelpHousing flat. Carmen listened to my concerns and was able to get issues fixed whenever supplies were low or we needed maintenance work completed. I would choose HelpHousing again if I needed to move back to Madrid.

Overall quite satisfied with the tenancy. However, it took some time to get help when there were things that needed to be fixed. Otherwise, it is a very high administration amount. Tiernan tried to help us as best as he could with everything.

Run away! I stayed in an apartment in Madrid, everything went bad! Very poor experience with the apartment and staff. Apartment overpriced, the administration fees are enormous if you only stay for a few months and helphousing overcharges the bills (electricity, cleaning services.) which makes the location extremely expensive at the end of the day and much more expensive than the price displayed on their website. For a 500€ location count AT LEAST 700€ per month if you stay around 5 months (500€ rent + admin fees + bills). If you stay only a month or two then the monthly rent will be around 1000-1200€. Not affordable at all and on top of that the quality of the apartment is terrible and the staff isn't concerned and friendly at all. If you are lucky you'll get part of your deposit back 2 months after the end of the contract. If it's not too late just run away, honestly it's your best option.

Very bad experience with Help housing Madrid.
Our son rented a room for 1 month this summer, and was charged admin fees equivalent to 1 month's rent: he therefore paid double the total amount of the expected rent (ie 1180 euros for 1 month, without the expenses). It would have been more profitable to book a hotel room or an AirBnB! Especially since the room is rented without any bed linen, pillow, comforter.that you have to bring or buy on the spot (and be careful: if you leave an object in the room when you leave, you will be charged 20 euros per object) : for most of the students, you will have to throw away the bed material bought when you leave.sad reality. Finally, the expenses (electricity, water.) are charged throughout the month without any proof of the reality of the expenses, and the amount (high) is surprising to say the least. Finally, we have noticed that the Help housing website does not respect the European regulation for the protection of personal data (GDPR) we have informed them of this, and have asked for the deletion of our data + the proof of deletion. No answer to date, despite all our reminders. In short, beware: the communication is very well done, but there are big risks to establish a contract with Help housing.

Help housing can be a little disorganized on details, but overall the people are nice and I loved my flat and the cleaning service is lovely

I was a tenant for a year and my experience was really good. The flat was refurbished a year before, the kitchen was well equiped and everything worked perfectly. If there is any inconvenience they try to solve it as soon as possible.

I highly recommend it.

Patricia is a really nice flat manager! Very welcoming and easy to talk to. If there was any problems in the flat, Patricia was very quick to solve it, and it did make my exchange year a lot easier and more smooth. Thank you!

J’ai séjourné dans un appartement à Madrid pendant mon erasmus grâce à l’agence Helphousing. L’appartement était bien situé et le service de ménage proposé 1x par semaine et le service de maintenance sont très appréciables. Jessica, ma flat manager, a été très réactive et là en cas de problème. Je recommande.

HelpMadrid parait à première vue parfait pour les étudiants. On peut réserver à distance une chambre dans une colocation erasmus. Une fois installé, l'agence essaie de faire payer un maximum d'argent aux locataires. Le service est déplorable: nous n'avons pas eu d'eau chaude pendant 4 mois et le problème était soit disant "impossible à résoudre", la maintenance de l'agence passe tous les 4 matins sans prévenir et surveille à moitié l'appart pour voir si tout est rangé, les frais d'agence sont exorbitants.
Pour le checkout, personne de l'agence ne se déplace. Aucun état de sortie n'est donc signé. Résultat, une ampoule ""disparue"" et 20 euros en moins dans la caution. Des factures soit disante impayées qui passent de 30 euros (normalement) à plus de 60 euros. Près de 100 euros en moins sur une caution de 500 euros.
Bref je déconseille car ils essayeront de vous soutirer le maximum d'argent.

Le seul point positif: les appartement et les chambres sont propres

Take care of you and your money! I would never recommend this place i lived 6 months in there in madrid and i get still yet after 3 months still bills about electricity and water. I still got an extra penalty take care of you and try to find sth else if you are erasmus student!

I am pleased about my apartment I got from HelpHousing. Remember that most of the time, the electricity bill will be added up to the rent. It was a little bit more expensive, the apartment, then I hoped and expected. But in the end I had a very nice house with lovely roommates. The agency was helpful when there were problems, but sometimes it took a little too long. Overal I am pretty pleased with my stay.

HelpMadrid Review
I was a HelpMadrid tenant from September till the end of December of 2021, and it has been quite an experience.
My flat manager was Enrique and, although I was overall very dissatisfied with the agency, Enrique was always responding to my messages and tried to help with any issue I was having.
My overall negative experience has been a result of a few things during my stay:
1. Rooms definitely do not resemble the website pictures. It seems as if the pictures were very old and taken when the flat was first renovated. Rooms in reality were extremely damaged, they were poorly equipped, and the furniture was old. Consequently, every few days something broke down. In our flat specifically the toilet in one of the bathrooms was broken down multiple times and although the maintenance “fixed” it, it kept breaking down every few days. Some other things that constantly fell out of use were: door handles, closets, bathroom window (that for some reason was never fixed), etc.
2. I find it very obscure that an agency, that charges such a high agency fee, does not have a proper emergency number. Flat managers are available from 9am till 7pm and after that no one would answer their phone. Emergency line does exist, but only during the weekend and again only till 7pm. I had an accident, as an example, that happened in my room. The washing machine from the upper floor got clogged and the water started falling through my room, all over my walls, mattress and personal belongings. Since the accident happened at 10pm, no one from the agency answered my calls. I had to figure out what to do and where to sleep that night on my own, yet I never got an apology from anyone. My flat manager did reply to me the next morning but the maintenance didn't come to fix my room for another 2-3 weeks. Moreover I was advised to use the heater frequently to keep the room warm which in the end resulted in our flat being charged huge amounts of bills for the month of November.
3. Sound isolation in the building simply does not exist, therefore you can hear everyone talking at any time of the day no matter where in the flat they are. That specific issue became very prominent during the exam season when it was impossible to sleep or study. I personally have complained multiple times about the noise of the upper flat and was told the issue would be solved yet the noise only became stronger and no one took serious measures about it.
4. The flat does not have an implemented heating system but uses electric heaters to heat up the flat, which is unquestionably not enough in winter months. The common areas such as the living room, bathrooms and hall were so cold that we had to wear multiple layers of clothes or even jackets just to be able to sit there comfortably.
5. Lastly, some things in our flat were never fixed. An example of that would be the moldy fridge which was not cooling properly. When we reported the issue, we were told that “it cannot be cleaned” before the new tenants arrived and that it was our responsibility to clean it ourselves.
To conclude, HelpMadrid agency may be useful when it comes to finding a short term stay in Madrid, but there is a lot of room for improvement in doing business with them.

I have lived in a Helphousing apartment for the past 4 months and I have been very pleased with the service and the great location of the apartment. Kathy, my flat manager, was always helpful & available and maintenance issues were usually fixed in a matter of 2 days or less.
It’s a bit pricey but I would definitely recommend Helphousing to anyone studying abroad in Madrid.

For my Erasmus semester, I stayed at a helphousing flat in Madrid for 5 months. I had a great time in the apartment: the location was perfect and very central. The flat was new, clean & I really loved my international flatmates. The rooms were all relatively small, but I didn't spend too much time in my room anyway, which is why it didn't bother me at all.:)

Our flat manager Kathy did a really great job. She was always reachable whenever we had issues and helped us as quick as possible.

I can definitely recommend to book a room over helphousing!

Estoy contento con el servicio recibido.
Mi manager Kathy fue siempre simpática y me dio una mano con todo desde mi primer día en españa.

Help housing is really to avoid, They’re not professional at all, there’s no inventory done at your entry and they will take advantage of the fact that you’re here for a short period of time.
0 professionalism, they’re not even respecting the deadlines of the contrat concerning el deposit which I needed to bargain for even after the 60 days maximum as said in the contract and even then they’ll be charging you extra fees.
Literally don’t deal with them unless you’re really at ease with money and you don’t mind being charged extras

I had the opportunity to study five months in Madrid. I choose to rent a flat proposed by HelpHousing and I don't have any regrets. The flat and my room were exactly as the pictures. The most important thing is that my flat manager (Catherina) has been amazing. Even though we had to face some difficulties due to the Covid situation, Catherina has always been there to help us and to found the best solutions for us. She was really available for us, she was answering fast and she was very understanding. She made our stay with HelpHousing very enjoyable!

Rented here from September 2020 until April 2021. Helphousing really is a predator hunting for international students. Turnover rate of students leaving is massive. Contracts are extremely rigid. In the beginning admin fee's and other costs are charged, these are pure profit for Helphousing and don't involve any lawyers or extra protection.

They were unresponsive about the noise complaints I had of our neighbour and never even adressed them. Yet were always ready to remind me of paying them on time. Suddenly 2 months in, you start receiving bills for the heating. Even though these costs were very unclear in the contract.

Finally I waited 4 months for my deposit back. If I didn't push them so hard, i'm confident that I never would have seen my money back. They are professionals in ripping students off.

Loads of hidden costs, let me explain (for my case) : base rent: 505€ + a bill for heating every two months: 50€ per month + Admin Fee: 505€ + Other costs associated with signing the contract: 150€.
Suddenly your total costs for renting per month aren't 505€ but 649€ (when spread out over 7 months).

Please, don't sign with them. Avoid them at all costs, people who give good reviews of Helphousing are just unaware of money and just blindly paid or were very well off and do not have to worry about money.

As a middle income student I can confidently say: avoid them, there are better options. THESE ARE PROFESSIONAL SCAMMERS.

PS. I see Helphousing reacting to all bad reviews, giving a vague explanation. In this case, just don't. You've proven again and again that your business model is centered around praying on foreign exchange students who can't find any better accomodation. Don't answer on this bad review, you fully deserve it.

Mí flat mánager fue Jenifer, y si bien dentro de todo estuvo bien, hubo un par de cosas que no me parecieron de mucho agrado.
Por empezar estuvimos como 1 mes y poco más sin wifi, a lo que debíamos abandonar el piso para ir a un café y tomar nuestras clases virtuales desde allí (con la obligación de consumición en el recinto), y cuando reclamabamos por la urgencia del arreglo nos decía que "el wifi es un adicional, no algo fundamental del piso", respuesta que me pareció de una falteza de objetividad total dado que al ser un piso de chicos de Intercambio estudiantil y en plena época de CLASES VIRTUALES, el wifi es lo primero que se busca a la hora de elegir una residencia.
Otra cuestión que no me fue de agrado fue cuando en un momento dado se les dio por instalar un "Roomonitor" (dispositivo para controlar ruidos en la cocina) sin dejar opción de conversarlo con la excusa de "ruidos y quejas por los vecinos en varios pisos de HelpHousing", cuando esto nunca había ocurrido en el nuestro. Lo que me disgustó de ello fue que no estaba convenido en el contrato la medida en cuestión, y correspondería en todo caso una charla acorde y tratar de llegar a un acuerdo que satisfaga a todas las partes.
Por último lo que no me gustó de la agencia fue el trato que tenía hacia nosotros la chica de limpieza, siempre estaba por alguna razón de malhumor y cuando uno intentaba hablar con ella la misma se ponía a dar órdenes o sino a tirar comentarios pasivo-agresivos hacia nosotros los inquilinos.

En el resto de cuestiones estuvo todo muy bien.

Estuve con HelpHousing Madrid este último semestre. La verdad son muy profesionales y te atienden en cualquier momento. Estoy satisfecho con la compañía. Es muy probable que el semestre que viene vuelva a confiar en sus servicios.

I spent 10 months with help housing in Madrid. I loved the location of my apartment and thought it is was.very well priced considering how close it was to the centre. My flat manager, Caterina, was helpful and speedy with her replies. She set up a group chat and always replied whenever we had an issue. The reason I did not give help housing 5 stars is because we had a problem with our boiler the whole time we were occupying the tenancy. Moreover, the radiator in my room did not work at all; not ideal in the winter. All that aside- I absolutely loved my Madrid experience and would recommend help housing to others. I love the ease of using their platform and think it is amazing they do not make EXPATS pay insane agency fees. A rarity in Madrid!

This is a very convenient rental platform. They give you the opportunity to live in the city center and live with young people from different countries. I used Helphousing for 8 months in Madrid and I rented an apartment that was exactly like it was described online with the advise of Jenifer. During my stay, Jenifer made a Whatsapp group for the flat where we could communicate together and ask for maintenance. The maintenance used to come anytime we asked for it. My suggestion is to adjust prices according to the room size, the availability of bathrooms, the availability of a balcony, etc. My room was small and without a private bathroom nor a balcony and I used to pay the same price as all the other rooms.

I spent my Erasmus semester in Madrid and rented a room in a shared flat through helphousing. My flat manager, Olga, was very helpful from the beginning and was able to answer all my questions. She answers really quick and precise, and all the organizational issues and problems were dealt with pretty quickly.
The room and the flat was in a good condition and any issues also were dealt with as soon as possible. A weeks cleaning service of the community areas was included in the rent (and also rentable for the own room) and every now and then maintenance took place. The rent was also fair (I lived in Ibiza) and included wifi and the cleaning service, but not any other additional costs like gas and water. Also "included" where basic kitchen appliances (pots & pans) as well as a personal kit consisting of cutlery and plates etc. The rooms are furnished (bed, bedside desk, desk with chair, lamp and trash bin, and a wardrobe). To get the key you have to go to the main office in Calle de Gran Vía, and when you leave you can just leave them in the room. You also only rent the flat in the time you need it (e.g, from January-July) - there is no set contract length.
I had a really great time in Madrid and can only recommend renting a room/flat with helphousing! Even on short notice I was able to get a room:)

I had a great stay in Madrid using HelpHousing. My flat manager was Juana, and she was super helpful and friendly, and she always replied really quickly. The room and flat were great, and looked exactly like the pictures. The location was also perfect. If I return I will definitely use HelpHousing again!

I have lived in an apartment through help housing for over a year now and will be continuing to live with them. All of the help housing staff are great, responsive and very helpful. My apartment manager Jenifer has helped me with so much regarding paperwork and living situations. She has made my living experience in Madrid easy and secure. Jenifer responds promptly and always makes sure tenants are taken care of. I highly recommend help housing and the amazing staff. Thank you for everything Jenifer!

I came to Madrid for my Erasmus and lived 6 months in one of the HelpHousing apartments, and I can only say that I am completely satisfied with my experience. I wasn't in Madrid before so I couldn't visit the flat and my room before renting it, so I didn't really know what to expect but was only positively surprised, it being by the flat itself which was really nice, but by the service, from picking up the keys to responding to questions. I was especially happy with our flatmanager Enrique who was always available to answer questions or to help us with any problems we might encounter. He was really really nice and helped me a lot with any request or need I had. I fully recommend to use helphousing if in need of a room for a few months!

The rooms are nice but the service is absolutely terrible. I just found out they have been incorrectly charging me for another room’s penalties and have yet to send me back my 560 € deposit two months later. I have talked to four different employees who have done nothing about it. They also made us pay for everything that stopped functioning in the apartment including light bulbs, the washing machine and a leakage from our shower into the shower on the floor below us. Clearly these are costs that a landlord should take care of. Though living with international students and young workers is a nice idea, I could never recommend helpHousing to anyone after my experience. They really take advantage of their customers through the contract.

El piso estaba en buen estado y la atención de parte de HelpMadrid fue buena, sin embargo hubo un problema con la electricidad que ellos no pudieron hacerse cargo y nosotros tuvimos que pagar, de ahí en fuera un excelente servicio

Great flat! Great location!
The guys at the office really helped me with everything they could and whenever we had a problem in the flat they were always available to help us!
They explain you the contract in English if you need so at the check in and also help you providing you information on how to get around, transportation, etc.
I strongly recommend them!

I found Helpmadrid good, it was a little difficult to get things set up to start with and I had to contact them 5 or 6 times to get things sorted out but once that had been sorted they were always available and very helpful when required.

Las habitaciones son todas muy confortables y en el cientro de Madrid. Yo he encontrado la mìa entre de unos dìas y cada vèz que he necesitado algo para el piso HelpMadid ha sido muy disponible. Recomiendo a todos esta agencia!

Horrible! Esta empresa, de origen dudosa, prospera gracias a la debilidad de los jóvenes extranjeros que llegan a Madrid. Alquileres muy altos, habitaciones sin ventana, fianza devuelto dos meses más tarde, penalización de 10 euros para un tenedor perdido, reparaciones que no se realizan. Esta empresa, detrás una dinámica juvenil y servicial, busca los máximos beneficios posibles.

People at HelpMadrid are nice and try their best to help us but the quality of the appartment is not very good. The rent is pretty expensive and I wished the appartment would have been furnished better (with an oven, good pans, etc). The photos on the website look stunning compared to the reality. My experience with HelpMadrid was not horrible but disappointing.

I stayed in Madrid for 3 months and I enjoyed a lot living there. I lived in the real center of the city, in Preciados Street, really the best location! I had fun with my flatmates, and had a real good time in all the activities I went. Never thought it would be so good! Recommend it, no doubt. Also, people of staff was great.

Hace unos años pude disfrutar de la experiencia de Erasmus, y viví la experiencia de buscar alojamiento lejos de mi ciudad y pude comprobar las dificultades que hay hoy en día. Pasado el tiempo, empece mi vida laboral y actualmente trabajo en helpAccommodation en el departamento de RRHH y me siento realmente afortunada de poder ayudar a los erasmus que actualmente y en el futuro lleguen a nuestro pais.
