By far, one of the most cheerful brunch places I’ve ever been to. Good food and good company in excess, and at low prices too. Just be careful not to have too too many mimosas

Can't do a full review as we didn't get try try the food or coffee. However, they do have a HUGE selection of English books and that was a great surprise.

The decor of this place is stunning but the bagels are the best sandwiches/bagels I’ve ever had in Madrid. Very reasonable prices and delicious mimosas. We had Gøran and Laura as our waiters and they were so lovely! They made the whole experience very fun and enjoyable. This was more than just a restaurant.

My classmates and I celebrated the end of our masters program here with brunch. Excellent attention through the whole process, from reserving to the dining experience. Really cool, fun vibes and tasty bagels. 100% recommend

Cozy to the point of almost being cramped - the savory menu is bagels or bagels, with a side of bagels. Cinnamon bun was fire though.

Bar-tienda acogedor y cultural enfocado en el intercambio de inglés y español. Lo hace a través de su bookstore de segundamano en el sótano y de actividades diversas en su bar como sus pubquiz, sus intercambios inglés-español, sus brunch (con bagels propios), juegos de mesa y organizando deporte en grupo. Todo en un ambiente muy amable.

The place has a very lovely ambiance and an amazing staff. It's feels homely and is probably every book lover's dream!
Also they have amazing bagels and their weekend bagel brunch is definitely worth a try.

Muy acogedor y la gente muy simpática. Se paga 1€ por hacer el Intercambio de idiomas y los tercios cuestan 3€. También se puede comer y comprar libros de segunda mano. Merece la pena ir para pasar un buen rato.

Bar y librería en inglés donde puedes obtener un montón de libros de segunda mano en ese idioma. El local se utiliza también para intercambio de idiomas. Planta de calle y sótano. Para el espacio que tiene está más que bien aprovechado. El trato más que cordial en ambos idiomas. Muy recomendable pasarse

El staff es super amigable, la comida es rica, el ambiente es agradable. Sin duda uno de mis lugares favoritos en Madrid!

J and J has become my go to place every Sunday for brunch! It’s the perfect place for me to wind down my weekend before Monday hits with a delicious bagel brunch and a book. All the employees are extremely kind and friendly. It’s also become a home away from home here in Madrid because it’s nice to be surrounded by English speakers in a cafe every once in a while I’ve been here countless times so I definitely recommend it to anyone who’s looking for a yummy, inexpensive, homemade? And mimosa combo!

Me gusta mucho el bar, la biblioteca y el entorno (barrio de malasaña). He ido a los intercambios de idioma y están muy bien. Destaco la atención recibida por parte de Kelly. Si quieres tomar una buena cerveza mientras practicas tu inglés te lo recomiendo.

I've been here twice and it's been such a pleasant experience that I plan to visit many more times. The staff, especially the owner, are incredibly friendly, open people. I've been at off times each time and I've felt nothing less than welcome. Also the food/drinks are fantastic.

It can be difficult to find books in English in Madrid, but this is an exception. I was looking for a travel guide on Madrid, and it is now sold.

I had expected to stop by, find a book and go about my day, but found myself in J&J for over two hours speaking to Dave (the owner)! Such a friendly and inviting atmosphere, with not only an extensive collection of books but incredible bagels! I’ll definitely be back.

Solía ir hace un par de años, no sé si algo habrá cambiado o seguirá todo igual. La cafetería está bien, agradable, pero como miles y miles en Madrid, y no es la más espaciosa ni la más diáfana ni mucho menos, sensación un poco de agobio en cuanto entran más de diez personas. Abajo tienen una librería que está bastante curiosa con libros de segunda mano en inglés a muy buen precio. Algunos días organizan intercambios de idiomas, cuando yo iba el anfitrión era un inglés clavadito a Chicote que estaba a favor del Brexit viviendo y teniendo una empresa en España. Su razonamiento era que España no podía permitirse perder a alguien como él tan beneficioso para nuestra economía. Con el debate que se generaba ya practicabas inglés, lo triste es que menos él todos éramos españoles hablando inglés. El dueño, un estadounidense con gafas, con los angloparlantes que estaban en el bar bebiendo y sin participar en los intercambios era muy majo, con los españoles bastante menos, él sabrá por qué. Es posible, y espero, que ahora haya cambiado a mejor.

Best bagel I’ve ever had: garlic & sheep’s milk cheese with cream cheese inside that comes with a side a chips dusted with cajun seasoning the best! That says a lot coming from a new yorker. It tastes so fresh and it’s all warm and perfectly doughy. You can eat it at their bar on the main floor or head downstairs to their bookshop where there are some tables and sofas.

OMG, those bagels are amazing! Jalapeño and cheddar, warm and newly roasted is the best thing I have eaten. Perfect with a mimosa. Great friendly staff and cozy atmosphere. English books all over, great food. It is the place to be! Highly recommended.

Bar con una pequeña librería/biblioteca en el sótano. Suelen hacer encuentros cada semana para el intercambio de idiomas. Nosotros fuimos un jueves por la tarde. El ambiente es muy bueno y se conoce a gente de lo más interesante.

What it has in ambiance it lacks in hospitality. I walked in on a Saturday afternoon to complete some work during what was unannounced to me was "mimosa and bagel" hour. After ordering a coffee and requesting the WiFi I sat down to one of the many open chairs and opened my laptop. After about 10 minutes I heard someone continuously yelling from across the bar. I looked up to realize it was the man behind the bar yelling at me that "laptops are not allowed during the "mimosa and bagel"" special hours. (Note that during any other hour laptops are allowed.) As someone who has been in food and beverage for over a decade, I was quite shaken as to why a manager would feel it ok to yell at a guest from across the cafe. He could have politely walked from behind the bar and approached me to nicely explain the rules for this hour. During my few minutes there I also witnessed the same manager (owner?) demanding guests, quite rudely, to return with their glasses if they wanted a refill on their beverage. All in all coffee is ok, ambiance of the cafe is nice but the manager/owner has no understanding of hospitality or human decency.

Ademas tienen muchas variedades de cervezas, yo probe una sagra con calabaza y. Mi amigo una blue moon. Me quede con ganas de probar los tes y los muffings/brownie. Tb tenian bagels
