Hostel Virgen de Guadalupe

Esto fue hace 4 años pero debido a la CENSURA vuelvo a publicar la reseña.

A la persona que lea esto le aconsejo por favor y de todo corazón que ni se le ocurra detenerse en este albergue. La hospitalidad brilla por su ausencia, el hospitalero es lo más raro y desagradable que he visto en 800km de camino (Ahora, tras otros 4 caminos de Santiago y 4 años más tarde sigue siendolo y la peor experiencia de todos ellos) es caro para lo vieja e incluso descuidada que es la casa y lo que ofrece el albergue en general, un olor que no supe identificar (como a viejo) te acompañara en toda tu estancia en el lugar.

El hospitalero, por decir algo, entró en la habitación dando gritos y de forma sorpresiva a las 6: 45 de la mañana. La peor experiencia de todo mi camino.

Ojalá esto sirva para que a nadie le pase lo que a mi.

No creas las duras críticas aquí. Me asusté un poco cuando los leí, pero después de llegar aquí, cambié de opinión. Hoy es el noveno día de mi Camino, y este albergue es uno de los mejores según mi experiencia. El anfitrión es un artista único, amable y dispuesto a ayudar a los peregrinos. El ambiente aquí también es único y acogedor. De fondo sonaba Mozart y disfrutamos de unas buenas lentejas. Si bien es posible que no hable bien inglés, no hay problemas para comunicarse. Creo que hubo algunos malentendidos que llevaron a las malas críticas.

Hostal de pesadilla! Recomiendo encarecidamente no ir allí, un hospitalero hosco y arrogante. Nos recibió regañándonos nada más entrar para que nos quitáramos los zapatos inmediatamente. Nos dice que hay una cena comunitaria pero al no entender bien el español también nos hace pagar la cena y las camas para dormir. Al descubrir el malentendido después de una hora le decimos que no queríamos cenar en las instalaciones y él, molesto, nos dice que ya estaba todo listo para la cena. ¡Ni siquiera nos devolvió el dinero de la cena! Habitaciones sucias llenas de telarañas, mosquitos e insectos diversos. Sin mencionar el hedor en todo el albergue. ¡Baños y duchas sucios! ¡Olvídalo, sigue adelante, gerente que no ama su trabajo!

¡Qué basura tan vieja! Si hubiera sabido eso, habría dado un paso más. El dueño es un tipo extraño que te trata de manera antipática. La habitación dispone de 2 camas del año cero. Todo parece descuidado y no limpio. La comida incluida cuesta 25€, y la comida debe ser muy buena para compensar el deplorable estado del resto. Sin embargo, dada una revisión anterior, me temo lo peor. Lástima que ya había pagado, de lo contrario habría caminado más. La ducha no la habían limpiado desde hacía tiempo. Las camas eran duras como piedras con un colchón fino. La habitación en sí también estaba sucia. La cena fue un bocado indefinible, que pensé que representaba el risotto. No tenía grietas ni sabor. Aún no he empezado a desayunar. Teniendo en cuenta el entorno, la comida y la recepción, este albergue recibe una gran nota de mi parte.

Pequeño albergue muy acogedor y hermoso con habitaciones de dos camas. Perfecto para relajarse y recuperar fuerzas. El anfitrión es muy educado. Puedo recomendar a todos, viajando por el Camino, que se tomen el tiempo y se detengan aquí y simplemente disfruten de la vida.

I stayed here some time ago so this is a late review, but I really liked this albergue. It was pouring rain when I arrived early, and the host was gracious and welcoming Then later we all had a really hearty shared meal.

Not to be put off by the naysayers. The owner is intelligent and straight-talking, which may put timid people off, but I really enjoyed the conversation. The guy is smart and spiritual, both.

Hébergement très moyen hôte très directif et désagréable

José Marie vous mets à l'aise. Il vous offre l'hospitalité simplement et des mets faits maison. J'ai passé un très bon moment chez lui dans cette albergue. Je recommande vivement! En plus ce sont des chambres à 2 lits. Super!

Surtout, surtout, surtout à éviter! Notre hôte a été horriblement directif, dîner à 17h45. La même "bouillie" servie à la louche chaque soir depuis 14 ans d'activité. Sanitaires sales, lieu sans intérêt particulier, pas de terrasse et il nous a fichues (nous étions 3) dehors à 8h20 ce matin!
Le pire hébergement du chemin pour moi!

Este albergue me ha encantado. Es preciosa la casita por fuera y por dentro. La atención de Pedro, excelente. Lo recomiendo sin duda

Auberge et propriotaire très sympa, le petit Mexique de la Rioja! Chambre pour 2 personnes confortable, je recommande!

Avoid at all cost. Host is very rude and dismissive.

I reserved a spot for 3 people, he confirmed this in an email. When we arrive, he says only reservation for one person.

When we arrive he says he never received the email. After getting him to let me borrow his phone, we confirm he read and confirmed the details.

After that he said they only reserve one person at a time. That's a totally fine policy, but don't mislead hungry tired pilgrim's by not mentioning in your confirmation that only one of the three people can stay.

We now have to walk to the next town because of his negligence.

We had a beautiful stay here - the place is very clean and our host was so welcoming. We had a delicious dinner the evening we arrived and a great breakfast before setting off the following morning.

Pedro Mari es una persona excepcional. Mientras hacíamos el camino nos encontramos un perrito abandonado y él nos ayudó a encontrar una solución. Muchas gracias Pedro Mari!

It's refreshing to meet someone that is honest (perhaps too honest for some). However, you know where you stand and I certainly don't mind showering before sitting on the couch. It's basically respect for his establishment. Relax and go with the flow and you'll enjoy it.

A beautiful calm place. A harbor of piece. Pedro the hospitalero is very nice and helpful. The rooms are tidy. There is altogether space for 20 ppl. 5 rooms x3beds and one room with 2 beds. 3 bathrooms. Dinners are healthy and filling. The hospitalero can also prepare breakfast for those who ask. Or a breakfast to go:) really recommend.:)

This is a albergue with character. Nothing fancy, it s an old house rebuilded to host pilgrims, but I will remember Pedro and his unique personality. Pedro is really kind and nice person who do his best to accomodate your needs.

El albergue es una casa antigua, con servicios, duchas y lugar para lavar y tender la ropa. Las habitaciones se encuentran en el piso superior y en la planta baja hay una amplia sala con varios sofas, camas y mesas. El hospitalero ofrece servicio de desayuno y cena a un precio asequible. La cena de lentejas y verduras con arroz nos levantó en ánimo a todos los comensales. También fue muy bueno el desayuno: tostadas con mermelada casera.

No merece ni un calificativo, alguien tan inhumano que niega a alguien un favor básico. Aún sabiendo que lleva kilómetros y cansancio al arribar a su puerta! Es un desprestigio para el Camino y de hospitalario no tiene un pelo! Un representante a la altura de Cirueña?

El peor albergue que he conocido, en cuanto entras un olor que no se te va en un par de días y el personaje, si no le sigues el rollo en cuanto a cenar o desayunar, un antipático y desagradable. Con decir que el agua caliente del baño la tiene condenada para no usarla.

Had a good experience at this albergue. Read the scary reviews after my stay. He is indeed a quirky guy but taken with a bit of salt he’s very kind and helpful. The meals were great, everyone was very entertained and we all had a good time.

Pretty nice place, all things considered. Owner is a little strange, but very nice and accommodating. Visiting in the winter is hard, as the albergue was rather cold. Obviously not made for colder weather. But if you're a pilgrim who needs a place to sleep, it's great.

Ok being extremely grumpy with the people who are giving you the money to carry on, not ok when the higiene is following under the minimum levels possible (my mattress plastic cover was full of hair and blood stained, in the kitchen there was a dozen of dead flies on the ground, toilet seemed to come from a favela). Yet nice supper prepared by the host, even if this doesn't excuse the first two issues.

Fatal. La verdad es que lo pasamos bastante mal. Al no querer comer la comida que nos ofrecía, pagando claro, pues ya nos puso el dueño mala cara, pero es que yo tengo muchas intolerancias alimentarias y hay pocas cosas que pueda comer, así que nos íbamos preparando la comida sobre la marcha. Nos cerró la sala a media tarde y no podimos tomar nada, ni siquiera cenar, tuvimos que hacerlo en la habitación como pudimos. El desayuno lo mismo, nos fuimos sin desayunar porque a las 8 aún estaba cerrado el comedor. Y no hablemos de las camas, las almohadas eran ce cuna, y la funda del colchón sin sábana bastante sucia. Un trato muy malo la verdad. El peor albergue del camino, por lo menos para mí.

No recomendable en absoluto.

Edificio viejo y mal conservado.
2 baños para 20 personas o mas.
Si te gusta que te manden donde sentarte con quien lo que comer cuando dormir y cuando levantar vete, eso di a las 7,15 de la mañana te echan de allí aunque este lloviendo a mares.

Do believe the harsh reviews.they are spot on.this is the worst albergue I have stayed at.here are some suggestions to make it better:

-fire the hospitalero.he is rude, demanding, sexist, and creepy.
-repaint inside and outside of the albergue in plain white color
-remove idols and symbols of other religions
-add shrine, pictures, and decorations of the Virgen de Guadalupe
-remove signs that falsely advertise fresh bread and pizza
-clean the albergue thoroughly and frequently.the whole place was extremely dirty
-remove the dogs.they should not be in the albergue and especially not in the cooking and eating area
-fix the poorly repaired areas of broken tile in the bathrooms
-remove all of the paintings by "petrus". It was very uncomfortable to be surrounded by them.and they are in very poor taste.
-replace cheap, creaky bunks and mattresses with better quality beds

If these changes were made, this albergue has the potential to be a very nice place to stay.

Don't believe the harsh reviews of here. I was little bit scary when I read the reviews but after I came here, my mind was changed. Today is the 9th day of my Camino and this albergue is one of the best albergue through my experience. The host is unique artist and he is also kind and ready for help the pilgrims. The atmosphere of here is also unique and cozy. Mozart was coming out as the background music and we ate good lentejas. He can not speak english well but there's no problem to communicate. I think on this point, there were some misunderstanding, and that's the reason of the bad reviews.

Avoid this place at all costs. About 20k before the albergue there is an advertisement for fresh baked bread and pizza. These do not exist. He also a sexist pig. He said to my friend "you are not much of a woman if you do your laundry like that". When serving dinner he gives the men much larger portions as well. This place deserves to be shut down. Do not stay in this albergue.
