Had a lovely week hosted by Tom in October. The setup is fantastic as was Tom’s knowledge of the local area, which seems to offer ever activity on the doorstep. Many thanks for having us stay and being such a welcoming host.

Second trip to Abdet - this time for a climbing holiday - spacious house and well stocked kitchen in a great location - Tom is the expert when it comes to the local area and we had a great time exploring what Costa Blanca has to offer including the crags and canyoning, which are literally a stones throw from the house.

Está muy bien equipada y ofrece muchas comodidades. Son mpresionantes las vistas desde la terraza. ¡Muy recomendable!

Excelente alojamiento en un pequeño y tranquilo pueblo en pleno valle de Guadalest desde el que acceder a muchas actividades de montaña. La casa es grande y espaciosa, totalmente equipada y con todas las comodidades y con unas vistas espectaculares desde la terraza. ¡Muy recomendable!

Nuestra estadía estuvo excelente. Para empezar, el sitio es una belleza, mucha naturaleza, poco ruido y el más pintoresco paisaje de casitas con vistas al valle. Hay varias opciones de rutas de senderismo para hacer y en esta ocasión incluso pudimos ver nieve! Luego, el anfitrión nos hizo sentir como en casa en todo momento, muy atento y dispuesto a ayudarnos con cualquier inquietud que tuviéramos. La casa era justo lo que buscábamos, rústica, acogedora y muy bien equipada, estuvimos muy cómodos la verdad. Agradezco mucho al anfitrión por hacer esta estadía tan especial y recomiendo esta experiencia a cualquier persona que quiera cambiar de aires o simplemente tener una experiencia top en la montaña. GRACIAS!

Entorno estratégico para la practica de todo deporte de montaña y de río por no decir también el embalse de Guadalest para la práctica de SUP. I ll be back, volveré.

Cycling Week 18-25th Nov 2017.
My triathlon club mates had attended in previous years & at last I was able to sample the delights of inland Costa Brava roads, & Abdet.
Sunshine, pleasant temperatures, considerate motorists, smooth roads, long steady climbs (@ 4-8% going on for 5km, 10km, & more,) with fast sweeping descents - a cycling dream - what's not to like?
We were made to feel very welcome by guide & hosts Tom & Penny.
The home cooking was just right after a days ride & the coffee stops along the way were a real treat.
Accommodation very comfortable with bike storage & kit washing facilities.
The week really was 'all inclusive' - you only need a few extra €'s for lunch stops & shopping.
If you're that way inclined Guadalest is a popular tourist 'attraction' only 10 kms down the valley from Abdet.
Hope to be back before too long.

UPDATE - Nov 2019

Just been back for the 3rd year in succession - I guess that says it all.

5 of us spent a great week cycling the Costa Brava mountain roads expertly guided by our host Tom - a fountain of knowledge on the geography & history of the area.

Note - this was an organised cycling week (not to be confused with the rental only option) and included all food (cooked/ served up by Tom, he of many talents) AND drink - we only needs a few Euros for the cafe stops each day.

Accommodation is comfortable - the wood pellet burning stove is warm & cosy to sit around in the evening whilst viewing the photos (Tom is also an avid photographer with a great knack of capturing colourful action shots) from the days riding.

If you love a quiet simple life & the outdoors & enjoy cycling / running / walking this is the place to be.

Casa muy cómoda y limpia. Está muy bien acondicionada para ir con niños y admite mascotas. No se pasa frio porque hay radiadores en las habitaciones y una estufa de pellets que funciona muy bien. El patio tiene que ser un lujo los meses de verano. El pueblo es muy bonito y hay muchos restaurantes en los alrededores del mismo. Es un sitio ideal para practicar senderismo, bicicleta, etc. Repetiremos seguro.

Enjoyed a great week in absolutely stunning surroundings, yet only a relative stone's throw from Benidorm.

Tom lead us on some stunning routes on superb quality roads with epic downhills, mixed with classic Alpine climbs; quaint village coffee stops and wonderful mountain scenery; all ridden in short sleeves and shorts in late November!

The roads reminded me of New Zealand in that we pretty much had them to ourselves.and not one "hoot" from any irate motorists.

Great home made food prepped on site with tea & cake on returning from the ride.

We also squeezed in a trail run on onto the Serrella range and a chilled out stroll around the magnificent Guadalest Castell.

Great value, stunning location and scenery, smashing, knowledgable host and superb cycling and running.

Cycling Week 23 - 30 November 2019

The mix of excellent cycling, quality food, great company and good accommodation in a genuine Spanish village provided the best weeks cycling holiday I have had to date.
Nothing was to much trouble for Tom, from feeding a group of hungry cyclists, to being a great guide, action photographer and bike technician.
Whilst the terrain is most definitely undulating, the roads in the main are excellent, with traffic light in the extreme.
I would highly recommend the holiday, location / accommodation to anybody interested in cycling, running or just experiencing the great outdoors of the hills / mountains of the Costa Blanca.

A very good place considering the cost, it's located in a small village which is surrounded by beautiful mountains. From the roof balcony you can see all the way down to the lake.

Had a great week trail/mountain running. Great weather & some great running routes that our guide tom showed us. Met some great people and had a great time

We spent a week trail running with Tom and he was a fantastic guide, really knowledgable about the trails and the local area. The accommodation was great, Abdet is a lovely quiet village with some amazing views from the rooftop terrace. It’s definitely worth getting up early to see the sunrise over the mountains.

Another excellent stay including exploring the local crag. We went for a week of running as I did just year which was excellent again. Additionally this year, Tom lent us climbing rope and quickdraws for a few days off climbing. The Bernia ridge traverse was fantastic and also some great climbs on the local crag for the final morning.

Had an amazing week in the mountains, trail running, dipping in the mill ponds and staying in Abdet! Tom was super helpful and very knowledgeable about the area! We went on three guided runs throughout the week with Tom and they were a perfect challenge for our ability. There was so much option for making it a multi sport trip, with Abdet being perfectly located to enjoy a quiet evening on the rooftop watching the sunset or morning sunrise!

Would 100% recommend! Looking forward to next year!

The house is clean and beautifully located. You can relax and enjoy the views and become one with nature. The house is big, has everything you can wish for. In winter (we were there in December) I must say it was very, very cold but in the rooms the radiators worked perfectly so we were never too cold. Also the stove made the cold much better. The rooftop terrace is amazing. Having breakfast with views over the mountains and lakes. Perfect. Thomass always answered within 10 minutes and we felt very welcome in his house. The check-in works with a key box, also this was perfectly communicated and very handy. I simply can not say anything bad about this house. If you're looking for a place to relax and sit back, I would recommend this place a lot!

I you love all things outdoors, such as mountain walking, trail running, climbing, and cycling then you can't miss this place. Tom is a legend in these parts for his knowledge and enthusiasm which he loves to share with his guests. He will take you to the best places and show you the best times and in the evening treat you to the best food and wine, followed by a film show of your days out. Then snuggle down in a lovely cosy bed, sleep like a baby after your days efforts, knowing Tom will have another adventure planned for you the next day.

This place was just great. We were a big group of climbers and this ticked every box. Beautiful house, location and Tom was so helpful. I cannot recommend this place enough.

Loved my stay at this house located in the center of a small, secluded Spanish villa. Close to many scenic locations by car (Guadalest, Benidorm, Algar, Altea.). House was very clean and equipped with everything you'd need for a long stay (kitchen with all kinds of utensils, washing machine with soap, wifi internet.).

Straight forward self check-in and communicative host! All in all, a great place to stay.

Just back from a week's walking with 5 friends in Abdet a quiet Mountain village staying in this Villa and the one next door, Every day we were led out on a new adventure by Tom to really experience the area with amazing scenery, mills, forts and castles, abundant wild flowers and birds. Tom's local knowledge and careful preparation ensured we got the very best from the area. If that was not enough every day we were fed and watered with unlimited excellent food.

Our group had a terrific walking holiday with Tom in Abdet. He chose a variety of walks which showed off the spectacular terrain of the Costa Blanca mountains and importantly were very suitable for the walking level of our group. Tom was a great guide, driver, host and cook. We all enjoyed the relaxed but organised way Tom made sure it was the holiday we wanted. Highly recommended!

If you fancy Breakfast and dinner on the roof tops admiring the great views.knowledgeable guided trips to the mountains and home made Scones.looks no further. Totally relaxing gorgeous place to let your hair down.

A great week spent climbing with anticipatory mornings and mellow evenings spent eating and relaxing in the warmth and comfort of Tom's place except when reminiscing and appreciating the splendid views from the roof terrace at sunset - life can be so hard!

An amazing experience, fantastic trails with good running and great views. Expertly led by Tom, who seeks out new and exciting routes so each visit is a new adventure. Good accommodation and great food too - I'll be back.

Just returned from a week of walking, staying in Tom’s 2 Spanish houses in Abdet. The perfect location for walking made so much better by Tom’s extensive knowledge of the area. Lovely houses, excellent food each day and the walks and guiding had been carefully arranged to suit our group.

My 5th visit! Abdet is at glorious and totally unspoilt village in the mountains above Guadeleste. Tom Phillips provides the perfect un-imposing hospitality AND detailed guided runs, walks, cycle rides, rock climbs throughout the truly awe-inspiring scenery - and then, once he's got you back and safely ensconced in the village bar, he cooks you a fabulous meal! The guy and the place are a must for a true 'get away from it all' break where you come back fitter than when you got there.

Visited for the trail/mountain running week. Very enjoyable week of sunny trail/mountain running at Abdet. As a solo traveller, I was quickly made very welcome by Tom, Penny and the other guests, many of whom were return visitors. The runs were great, challenging routes but varied and interesting in some stunning scenery, Tom is very knowledgeable about the local area. Excellent and plentiful food. A very welcome escape from the English weather!

Abdet Trail Running Week (Feb-17 to Feb-24). An unforgettable week in the Costa Blanca mountains! Each day featured a unique and rewarding trail to run with great company. I cannot wait to return and explore further. The area boasts stunning and diverse terrain, from gorgeous sea cliffs to mountain tops and scree fields, with Abdet firmly squared as the perfect launching point. Tom is a gracious and kind host, providing an experience which satiated both the legs and the belly (delicious dinner feasts each night!) From start to finish, the trip was well-organized, comfortable, and rewarding.
